Any word on WAFL telecasts for next year?

Apparently the WAFL were chatting with both 7 and 9, through McGuire Media.

If they go Channel 7 as well, will be interesting were that leaves the ABC and the VFL.

Who cares if SANFL to 7.
ABC almost didn't continue it's broadcast agreement this year. So at least you will know the future of SANFL on tv is safe.

ABC costs under $100,000 at the moment and coverage is good with exposure for all teams.

$1,000,000 to Ch 7 is lots of money. Not sure how this will translate into $$$$ in club coffers.

You'd want to have your contract rock solid that games each week and finals are all covered. With digital why cant other games that are taped be replayes with radio commentry on the digital TV stations?

If they actually talk about the football instead of the weather on the moon the extra money will be well worth it.

It was fine on the ABC for a tenth of the price!

I seem to recall it being a sticking point even at that figure, publicly anyway.

From Rucci's article in yesterday's paper:

The SANFL's search for the $1 million to cover production costs will be significantly eased if the AFL-based Adelaide Football Club has it's bid to place the Crows reserves team in the SANFL league competition next season approved by the league directors in a fortnight. The Crows are understood to have already lined up potential corporate backing for SANFL telecasts.

Crows reserves guaranteed to be shown every week then. What a sweet deal for the sanfl clubs. 2 games a year on TV.

Very interesting, indeed. I wonder who Seven will use for the Commentators? Hopefully the ABC TV guys will at least get a chance to apply?

channel 7 will use the SANFL as a training ground for other callers
