SOUTH HAVE SHORTENED TO FAVOURITES NOW.
Rams complex likely to get pokies, just around the
corner from the North goldmine, unless Mr X stops them.

Its OK, we and the Highlander have protested against them, hopefully that'll drag it out for a few years but I'm sure Greenacres will still continue to be very profitable as we're establisehd and Adelaide City will probably only have pasta or pizza on the menu. ;)
Northern still raking it in too.

with north adelaide it would be too lop sided.

Feel free to count the flags won (6 in a row) in the 1800's & with us (NA) during the WW2- oops, you already do

North have won a flag in every decade, except 1 (1910-1919)

Is this fair dinkum? Just checked the SANFL website but couldn't see an announcement there...

The part about premiership favouritism isn't but yes the part about the cap being raised in conjuction with CPI is.
SANFL won't put it on their website until its been ratified but its pretty common knowledge the part about the CPI rise will go through as a no brainer.

It really does annoy me reading North fans sticking it to Norwood for our current predicament. All I can say is they have very short memories.

Talking about short memories, Mal (a Norwood fan) is cuurently having a decent crack at North! Surely we have a right of reply?

BTW we have a very good memory, we remember exactly how many SANFL clubs and how many officials from the SANFL came to help us out when we were just about down and out. We will NEVER forget it too.

What are we supposed to do? Just cop the crap and not argue back?

North get bagged quite a bit for breaking the salary cap (which is a load of shit anyway) and for recruiting interstate players. Other supporters are jealous that our club has risen from the death and is now on the way to being a successful footy club. It gets a bit tiring and i feel we have a right to fire back, like Punky and Wedgie have also mentioned.

Mate, even if it was you'd still allegedly owe money.
Although the 2 clubs that got done before South had a $1 for $1 fine allegedly South got a substantial discount hence why there was allegedly a confidentiality agreement written into their recent issue with the SANFL.
Allegedly the SANFL were willing to give a substantial discount to keep the details and amounts involved quiet.
All alleged though.

Just on South, I spent some time in the clubrooms last Sunday between quarters of the juniors games and was amazed that it was dead quiet in there.
Is that the norm for a Sunday or was it perhaps an exception because the Showdown was on?
Mind you the Showdown was being shown on the TV screens there.
Only me and 1 other bloke in the normal bar with about 3 people in the pokies area.
Even the parents of the U19s and U17s seemed to stay in the cars.

A personal story: My uncle is a North man but wasn't a member. His wife, my aunt, is a Norwood lass. Long time supporter also but likewise not a member. When North were in trouble, they BOTH joined up as members. Now Norwood are in trouble, I haven't been able to put the shoe on the other foot yet! And my aunt is still a Norwood girl!

As I've said before, I don't know much about the history of inter-club giving over the years. All I can say is that I have personally given to South and Sturt in the past and I'm sure the camraderie between many supporters of SANFL is such that in between all the banter we still look after one another - if we didn't save other clubs from time to time, something would be lost from the comp - not least of which would be a hell of a lot of history, laughter, sweat and tears.

Long live the SANFL and ALL its clubs!

Don't think those kinds of posts suit the North-on-a-cross mentality some on this site have.

The sense of perceived injustice, perpetuated by a small but highly visible minority, is yet another example of North's complete inability to get into the real world. You now have two succesful revenue streams. Well done. Now prove to the world that your club can actually do something meaningful with them rather than play some pretty football. Don't hold your breath is all I can say.

For what it's worth Norwood are probably in as desparate a position as North were a few years ago. However, unlike the aforementioned noisy bleaters, we neither need or want your help.

Our day will come.

Saddens me to say mate but the Marquessa and I no longer go to the club for meals or pokies etc. I am no snob being a Steel City Boy and living in Hackham West, but I have always believed that clubs should have seperate facilities for members. I know that the Pokie legislation states that premises must be open to all, which is fair enough, but if I wanted to dine in a front bar I can always go to the Lonsdale etc.
Whether it is a change of chef or not but the quality of my favourite Chicken Parmy that I ordered on a regular basis has deteriated so much that I am no longer prepared to endure drunks and ferals screwing up the ambience.
I don't know what you thought of the "Renovations" but I think the removal of the Honour Board and posters of club greats like Jim Deane, David Kantilla etc was designed to remove the club atmosphere and strenghten the "Front Bar" ethos.

In a word it "sucks". It appears the new board is going with the strategy that increasing membership is too hard so let's go for the lowest common denominator.

Even the heritage listed Bay club rooms have seperate dining rooms.

Diatribe over.

Spirit of 64 lovely post.

WEDGIE,PUNKY,ROOSTER MARTY be proud of the turnaround
of the North Adelaide football clubs fortunes, the reason I stir
your club is partly through jealousy.
Enjoy the wonderful football your team is playing, and if recruiting
equates to thrilling football than thats great.
Play on.

If your club had shown more profesionalism, there would be one more exiting player running around Norwood, and 1 less @ Prospect. Don't think for a minute that Norwood don't want to recruit, they have tried. As Wedgies alluded to earlier, it's not just about the money to some players (the type that you want at a club), it's the whole package, coach, facilities, profesionalism, support for family etc. etc., when a player is attracted by those other things, it doesn't take such a big financial enticement to get them there.
