Assault at Unley Oval

All discussions to do with the SANFL

A big thumbs up to Sturt and Stuart Totham for their response to this issue.

Clubs need to be active - and to be seen to be active - in keeping out the riff-raff.

I believe that Sturt isn't the only SANFL club currently being proactive about ridding the wankers from its supporter base...

I wonder if that is the same Sturt cheersquad guy who was yelling out to Forest a couple of weeks ago " I hope ya broke ya neck". Yes he was a tool.

Apparentley , the South lad that was thugged got quite badly hurt & these idiots need to be found & dealt with . ( It will be by the Law, as a police investigation is underway.)
But I hope ( & expect ) the club to ban these idiots as well.
I spoke to the club today, and they are more than aware of the problem with the cheer squad.
As if they don't have their hands full trying to get finances in order, sort out a new coach, get our on field performances to somewhat respectable, gett a new business venture or two up & running etc etc,.....now these wanker " supporters " create another headache.

I know it's probably against the grain of the Aussie way to "Dob someone in", but I really think the bigger picture needs to be seen here and surely someone will know who the culprit is and does the right thing and puts the relevant authorities onto him ... As always, if the alleged offender has in fact done nothing wrong then they don't lose anything, but if they are guilty they need to be punished accordingly ...

There had to be some witnesses, not least of whom would have been the South victim.

Identification is the key issue to a successful conviction. Coughing up a name (or names) is only step 1. Presumably one of the clubs did a video/DVD of the game and footage of this may well be useful. Others in the crowd may also have photos or vision of the sturt cheersquad taken on the day or even at previous matches this season which could assist the victim and SAPOL with identifying the offender(s).

If the Sturt cheersquad is really that bad, then sort them out once and for all. Get the club, the SANFL and SAPOL to sit on them for a while and they will soon get tired of being watched over, getting evicted, and even better, watching their membership "torn up" (if they have one).

ASSAULT AT UNLEY OVAL- Sturt v South Adelaide August 19th 2006

As you may be aware, a South Adelaide Supporter was assaulted at Unley Oval
on Saturday after the conclusion of the League march.

The assault was allegedly made by members of the Sturt Football Club Cheer Squad.

We have a number of witnesses who corroborate the involvement of Sturt Cheer Squad Members.

The young man who was assaulted has lodged a report to the police and we expect this to be fully investigated.

IF YOU SAW WHO WAS INVOLVED AND KNOW THE NAMES PLEASE LET THE CLUB KNOW ASAP.

IF YOU ARE THE PERSON RESPONSIBLE AND YOU ARE READING THIS, HAVE THE COURAGE TO COME FORWARD
AND ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES OF YOUR ACTIONS
.

This type of behavior cannot and will not be tolerated. It is important that we track down the person/persons
responsible and make it clear that they are not welcome at the footy nor welcome as part of our club.

This incident reflects poorly on everyone involved at the Sturt football club, it is an absolute disgrace
that you cannot go to the footy, enjoy barracking for your team and then go home without being physically assaulted.

I am sure all Members and Supporters will share my thoughts on this matter.

Thank you in anticipation of your assistance.

Stuart Totham.

Any ideas people?

I think it's a great move by the footy club to try and do something about it but what I was getting at is that is highly unlikely that the culprit is just going to own up.

What nothing just like Sturt on the scoreboard in recent weeks  Can't wait till round 23 when we belt you again. I think we might try for fourty goals this time.

That's what I was thinking too. As if this person is going to own up, that would be the best thing but it's not like that will happen.

but by putting it in the public spot light it forces us to talk about it and puts guilt in the culprit's mind and forces them to own up to what they did. just look at this thread two pages of discussion and still being talked about a week after the alledged event, every supporter from every club has had a say.

Cant wait till your team chokes again Egglet. Minor round chumps. Maybe you can merge with westies call yourselves the bloody eagles and this way your teams might win a flag in 5 years time.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.
