So Matt Lobbe has been named in West Adelaide RESERVES this weekend, so obviously a good move for him.

What are his odds playing a League game?
25-50\1 ?????
I know Collins would play him just for those odds!

Yep, reckon they'll back up that effort and win by five or six goals.

After all that Lobbe still doesnt get to sleep in and will be playing Magoo's for West instead of Port.

Surely Collins wouldn't have told him to come over and we'll pick you in the two's?

If the lad wants to develop, perhaps being settled and getting some consistency in his game might be best for him, along with doing the hard yards like every other big bloke over the years. No quick fix for him.

Port by 40.

Did anyone really think he would walk straight into the league team?. He wouldnt know names, systems or anything yet. Give the kid and club a break.

Does anyone think he would go through all this to not play league?

Does he know all the names of Reserves player? No. So why does that stop him playing league?

Does he know the "system",be it in the League or two's? No. See above.

I have no doubt that is exactly what he was told by Collins. He also would've been told that if he plays well it won't be long for him to get an opportunity at league level as we don't have a recognised ruckmen.

Sometimes a change in environment is best for everyone, no matter what aspect of life we are talking about.

Unless you know the bloke personally, you probably can't understand why he would have made the move.

He may have felt his football was going stale and the enthusiasm wasn't there, maybe he had a falling out with a couple of the players at the magpies. Any of these type issues could be solved simply by a change in atmosphere.

Good luck to the bloke (except when you play centrals) and hopefully you find form and what ever was missing from your time at the magpies.

He didnt actually pick the club he wanted to go to. Because West were bottom last year they got first pick of him, had they said no, then the eigth placed side would have had the chance to pick him up.

You suggested he is not playing league because :

So what difference is it whether he plays league or two's? The names, sytem and alike are all just as foreign.

That was my point, so how "stupid" is that?

Perhaps the club puts more store on winning League games than Reserves?

The player himself would know that our coach wouldn't have seen much of him, so it would be asking a lot to expect to be picked straight up. But clearly there are fewer ruckmen to compete with for a senior spot at our club than at yours.

LMAO, yep.

I have stated in another thread I wish the kid well as he is Power listed and we need all the big blokes we can get to be firing for the impending retirement of Lade and then in turn Brogan.

Just a little confused as to why West wouldnt pick a bloke they have just recruited, who is a ruckman, and many of their supporters state he doesnt have much competition in that area at the club....must just be me.

I guess Borholm deserves to ruck ahead of Lobbe atm because he has done ok in the role so far and he deserves to not lose his spot to someone who hasn't played much league footy, if any, of his own. Lobbe still has to prove himself at westies as League games, at any club, aren't handed out on platters.
