No TAAK, we lost, you won. Just interested to know what ABC's replay showed.

Sabre, I saw the footage on the news (7 & 9) and IIRC the goal umpire was in perfect position to make the call on whether it was touched or not. Anyone on here got footage?

PS Do the goal umps still have those hat cameras?

Even if we lost 'officially', I'll sleep better believing we won by 4 points !
Can't wait to have another crack at the Dogs with Kite & maybe Schultz replacing a couple
of our lesser lights.
Congrats CDFC, I'm gutted, but if nothing else, I hope NFC gained some respect today.

No. Respect is gained when you win the close games.

Respect might be achieved in a loss occasionally but not when the opposition play as poorly as the dogs did. We turned the ball over so many times, handpasses going to the players feet, kicking to the opposition all day long. And missing that many shots for goal could have cost us dearly. But in the end we come away with the points, remain undefeated and top of the ladder. When Norwood were pulling away in the second quarter I thought perhaps they were going to beat us comfortably, but a few clean passages showed that they were only in the contest because of our own errors.

But positives, Schell got another run and will be better for it, Hardy played his best game for us, Symes stood up when we needed him to and Giles was active around the ball which is nice to see him start doing. While Dunne and Spurr were pretty good.

But Switala was very poor. Sadly I think time has come for him. A bloke that doesn't win his own ball must be getting 20 touches, hitting targets with just about all of them or kicking a few goals. He's never really been a great goal kicker and an inability to get to his team mates to get the handpass means he's lost his main weapon.

Thomas needs to get his disposal up to scratch. I know he's not the greatest kick around but yesterday was terrible, even for him. It's no good being able to run with the ball like he can if you're going to turn it over like he did.

Eddie looks like he's too good for this comp, but really seems to be struggling to come to terms with it all. Probably should be looking to be more decisive and create the chances instead of second guessing himself.

As for Norwood, they were ok I suppose, but the story of the day was really the fact they got the most enormous cheer at half time, while they were still behind! If the fans of Norwood are so happy just to be close, then no wonder you guys struggle to beat us. The quarter was well worth a clap but to cheer like they were up by 10 goals? I know the fans mightn't be the ones who kick the goals but I think they reflect the mood of the entire club and satisfaction being 1 point down by the fans seemed to be echoed by Hill being somewhat satisfied by losing the game by a point.

Anyway, on to West now. Selection will be very interesting this week. If swooper does indeed get dropped it will be very, very hard to get back. A queue of kids in his way, he won't be first in next time you'd think and then he might be competing with Callinan, Goodrem and Cochrane to get back into the side.

Thought it was a great game, with Norwood to take out plenty of positives from it. As for some of the uneducated comments from various Stem basher supporters from CDFC, it will be interesting to see if they return to the closet from which they came from when the doggies bubble bursts (and it will).

Over and out!

Settle down champ, you're putting words in his mouth ... Entertaining game of footy, Dogs should probably have been about 6 goal up at 1/4 time, was pretty proud of the grit our boys showed.

Still a few blokes who didn't look like they wanted the footy when the game was on the line, but we didn't buckle as most had expected (including myself), and had the game been a draw I dont think too many would have argued with the result.

Don't know whether this means we got the rub of the green, but I thought the umpiring today was the best I've seen this year ... Although again I noted Central were denied what looked a clear free, at a pivotal moment, when the umpire was looking into the sun.

Well done Dogs, Im pretty certain you can play a fair bit better than you did yesterday, and it would be nice to think that we can improve on that performance to, as we'll need to.

I watched most of the game on TV as a neutral observer. It was a great game to watch, pretty well umpired and a lot to look forwad to for both teams.

The first point I'd make is that opposition supporters seldom credit their opponents for good play; it's usually that their team played poorly. There was plenty of good play by both sides yesterday and I thought Norwood showed they have the ability to be a top 3 side, if they have most of their on-ball brigade available. The previous week, I thought their output depended totally on the usual suspects - Gallagher, Massie and a slowing Weatherald. The inclusion of Trotter and Lower added a new dimension to their effectiveness and gave other players much more opportunity.

Juniper up forward gave them another good target. He kicked a bag against West in the first trial game and I have been surprised he hadn't been selected until now. The other plus was Zorzi, in an expanded role the last two weeks or so.

Central showed why they're obviously the team to beat. When the game had to be won, they knew how to do it. Havelberg looks terrific and his move to defence (?) was pivotal in the result, I thought (I didn't watch all the game, so I'm not sure if this is correct).

A couple of random thoughts:

The TV commentators strongly disagreed with a couple of 25 metre penalties against Central which they thought pedantic. That's nonsense, Central have made going a metre or two over the mark an art form to slow the opposition and I'm sure they're well prepared to give away a few 25's to achieve this.

Secondly, we all know the Gowans are great for the game, etc, etc, etc, but their constant arguing and in-your-face confrontations are really tiresome. Yes, I know it's part of their psyche and part of the deal and it won't change, but it's so predictable after nearly every stalemate contest.

All in all, a great game to watch and credit to both teams.

Agreed.

But not according to GrahamL in his nasty, petty little post. If you believe him the Dogs played appalingly and Norwood just played OK.

just happened to bump into Jamie Vlatko last nite. Apprantly he asked the Centrals defender wether he touched it and grazed the back of his arm. Cant Blame one decision though.
All and all a very heartbreaking loss for the redlegs.
