The traditionalists of football would lap this up... sticking it to the corporate powers that continue to sanitise the game.

Could this possibly be the embryonic stages of a proper national competition with three divisions?

How a true national competition should be.

If it were sustainable, I wouldn't mind it at all if say three clubs from the VFL joined the SANFL - 22 matches with 11 home and away. That would necessitate 3 return flights away per SA club and 9 per Victorian club during the minor round. Maybe Virgin Blue might like to be a sponsor - reduce travel costs and promote themselves at the same time. A win/win! ;)

Get GSR to sponser the league and train them over. Players can sleep on the train.

A good idea too, so long as the players don't get DVT. ;)

More expensive than flights most the time, its not uncommon to get flights for as low as $19.95.

I booked return flights last week for a date in June and it only cost me $56.

We are definately being used as a pawn in their game.....if you do that we will do this !
If a VFL club seriously wanted to join our comp...which I doubt very much....they would sit down quietly and discuss it with the approriate parties, not come out publicly like this.
Stay away from this I say, next thing you know the AFL will be pointing the finger at us accusing us ( the SANFL ) of trying to interfere in their affairs and use this as an excuse to cut funding or further reduce our salary cap.

The SANFL should stay as they are meant to be....a competion for local South Australian clubs....dont try to be something you are not.

The Mexicans would do anything to stuff up footy - send teams to SA and try and gain influence in the oldest competition in the nation ... then bollocks that up too like they did the VFA, as well as the other states with an insistence on crazy anagrams like AFLNT, AFLACT and AFLQ!

Well they're certainly not there to win premierships, that would stuff up the record books :)
It's all the SANFL's fault.
