What players from your clubs will get a jumper.
Glenelg- Cranston (backup ruck to Buckets), Ty Allen (mouse and Todd Grima could get picked but with injuries cant see playing), maybe Fisher.

Maybe Gallagher and Zorsi .. But I say only maybe because there's some pretty stiff competition for the spots either of them could fill.

Started thinking about players likely to make the State Side for the game against WA in Perth later next month. Took a bit of thinking about it and I'm sure there will be a couple of obvious players I have missed out on.

It is just for discussion and to get others ideas on what their team would look like if they were a selector. I know the squad hasn't been announced yet but it is a bit of fun in the mean time and see how close your side gets to the final selected side.

Here is my side:

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Coach: Darel Hart

FF: Daniel Havelberg Brant Chambers Ian Callinan

HF: James Gowans Clint Alleway Eddie Sansbury

C: James Allan Jade Sheedy James Gallagher

HB: Paul Thomas (C) Corey AhChee Ryan Williams

FB: Luke Panozzo Brett Zorzi Danny Meyer

RK: Trevor Cranston Jeremy Clayton (VC) Chad O'Sullivan

INT: Jason Mackenzie Chris Gowans Rhys Archard Mark Mackenzie

Yes, I know it is probably a tad Centrals bias (couldn't help myself !!) but they are the form team of the comp at the moment and the side will be selected on this seasons form, not on past reputations or coaches favourites (you would hope !!??) What do you think ?

Good looking side mate ... I haven't seen all those boys in action this year, but all are quality players, and you've probably seen most of them in 2009 ... One question, no room for Luke Crane or James Allan (both carved my mob up when we played them)?

Take it from me that Damon White is a certainity to be in the side ;) ;)

-Both Gowan boys and Sansbury have the job ahead of them at the moment and its so unusual for Big Phil to get carried away with his Doggies

Fair point about White (again from only the one game I saw him), he was pretty imposing and orchestrated the whole defence.

Are we allowed to list AFL rookies??? the Sandgropers have one. Would the Crows let him play?

Surely Brodie Martin from Sturt should at least make the training squad

Hey CP,

I've got James Allan on one of the wings (although probably not his usual position) and as for Crane, I guess I'm basing it on him missing a few games with a knee injury (I think) and the fact that the side will be picked on current form.

Yeah, AFL rookies are eligable to be picked, with Nick Salter playing in the SA side last year whilst being a Port Power rookie...

Brodie Martin has improved out of sight this season and would certainly be in my 'squad' if I were in charge.

How has James Boyd's form been this year so far - he was 3rd in the Magarey last year.

Totally agree with you G about Damon White, he would have be a starter at CHB in the side. I guess I forgot about him because I forgot he is a full time SANFL listed player, but I did say earlier (as below) that it was likely to happen. ;)

I would suggest based on form this season (which is the number 1 selection criteria) all 3 mentioned above players have been in good touch for the Dogs and featured amongst their best players in each game so far.

He was amongst the best for the Panthers against the Dogs last week and had over 30 possesions from memory. Would definately make the initial squad I reckon.

Slight change to my team after initially leaving out Damon White who has to be a certainty for CHB in the side. Here is my new side and a list from each club of players who I think are a chance to at least make the initial training squad:

SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Coach: Darel Hart

FF: Daniel Havelberg Brant Chambers Ian Callinan

HF: James Gowans Clint Alleway Eddie Sansbury

C: James Allan Jade Sheedy James Gallagher

HB: Paul Thomas (C) Damon White Ryan Williams

FB: Luke Panozzo Corey AhChee Brett Zorzi

RK: Trevor Cranston Jeremy Clayton (VC) Chad O'Sullivan

INT: Jason Mackenzie Chris Gowans Tristian Gum Mark Mackenzie

Players I reckon will be a chance for the squad from each club:

CENTRALS:
Ian Callinan
Chad O'Sullivan
Eddie Sansbury
Scott Dutschke
Paul Thomas
Jason Mackenzie
Chris Gowans
James Gowans
Ryan Williams
Daniel Havelberg
Brayden O'Hara

GLENELG:
Trevor Cranston
Danny Meyer *
Luke Panozzo
Adam Fisher
Ty Allen
Ben Kane

STURT:
Brant Chambers
Jade Sheedy
Tristian Gum
Brodie Martin *
Luke Crane
Michael Coad

NORWOOD:
Brett Zorzi
James Gallagher
Kris Massie
Nick Duigan

PORT:
Jeremy Clayton
Corey Ah Chee
James Mieklejohn

EAGLES:
Mark Mackenzie
Luke Jarrad
Luke Powell
Ken McGregor
Brad Dabrowski

NORTH:
James Allan
Rhys Archard
Damon White
Matthew Wright
Cain Ackland
Ben Schwarze

SOUTH:
Craig Parry
James Boyd
Jason Torney
Ben Warren

WEST:
Stephen Bailey
Damien Cupido
Chris Schmidt *
Ryan Ferguson

* Still eligable for selction as only AFL Rookie Listed players

Again, there may be a couple of obvious players that I have forgot about and I know there are a few players listed there but I guess I'm just going on who has been playing well for each club.

I guess I didn't consider guys like Brett Backwell, Luke Crane, Todd Grima, Bryce Campbell, Leigh Treeby, Heath Younie, Daniel Schell, David Trotter, Byron Murphy, Andrew Hayes etc etc because they have had interrupted starts to the season with various injury concerns.

I've always been (and still am) a huge fan of Kris Massie .. But he shouldn't make the squad based on form.

Agreed, his form is not that great at present and he did have an injury interrupted pre-season. But I still have him in my squad because he is a good footballer and has just come fresh out of the AFL (and to keep Norwood fans happy ;) )

Would be definitely going if I wasn't playing myself.

IMHO, you would want to go to the Paddington ale house at Mount Hawthorn (1.5km) up the road before/after the game as they have pale and sparkling on tap plus literally a hundred plus other beers and is a lot better pub than the leederville and leederville is extremely expensive.

I haven't seen Damon White this season, but based of what I've seen in the past, he surely isn't a better CHB than McGregor?
