Had a great first year in '84, kickng 37 goals off a half-forward flank.

IIRC, his last game for Port was the great comeback against Glenelg in round 3, 1986.

Kicked an important goal late in the match running up the guts.

Career ended in controversy when he was sacked after a front bar punch-up with several team-mates. One of them allegedly insulted his girlfriend.

R.I.P. Steven Knight.

No disrespect to the sad passing of Stephen Knight but how / why does it rate a mention on a thread for the passing of Barry Stringer? I can't see any link between the two except they both played SANFL Football???

Perhaps a thread for Knight would have been more appropriate?

Forever immortalised as the man who gave the f*** you salute to the grandstand at Elizabeth oval. Vale.

When someone gives you "the fingers" you tend not to forget. Rik, I think it was Stephen "Bomber" Clifford who gave the salute to the Bulldog faithful.

RIP Barry Stringer and Stephen Knight.

Not sure if it was both, but in 1984 Stephen Knight most certainly did mate, I have it on video still
