We would have given up a home game to play at AO on ANZAC day Dutchy, reigning premier usually loses a home game for this one. Twice out there last year means it is our turn for one home game this year.

Since when are the Eagles and South rivals? we've got a rivalry going with Central seeing as Central and the Woodville side of the Eagles going in the League at the same time and the GF battles we've had during the last 10 years.

When are the SANFL going to get the Round 23 BYE correct
The last round of the year bye, should automatically go to the previous years Wooden Spooners with the thinking being they are unlikely to be playing finals.
I believe this idea should be cast in stone and everyone would then know their R23 fate early.

If I did the SANFL draw I'll have the bye as follows

Round 1 - Central (as they finished 1st)
Round 2 - Glenelg (2nd)
Round 3 - Sturt (3rd)

Rounds 4 to 22

Round 23 - West (9th)

Don't know yet and I don't think there is anything official released by the SANFL either...

But, when I was talking to Grant Coffee (Under 18's coach for the Dogs) at the Centrals Premiership Dinner he was saying that if they play on the same day as the reserves and league in a triple header format, it may be something like 8.30am - 9.00am, around that time.

He did also say though that they may also play some games by themselves at opposing home / away grounds to where the league and ressies would be playing. I would like to see them as the first game in a triple header but it would make for a long day at the footy, 8.30am to 6.00pm ?

We will have to wait and see, I'm sure the SANFL will communicate something about sooner rather than later, you would hope.

Yeah but at least they picked another team which is heavily unlikely to make the finals.

If the league starts at 2pm which means the reserves start at 11.15am which would mean that the 18s would be at about 8.30am I would suggest. The only time the 18s would be at the opposing ground is on ANZAC day as all 4 matches are on ANZAC day.

Here is a "cut and paste" version taken off the main page of the nafc website. Clearly "we" are not happy with the draw and there are some good points raised:

SANFL Draw Abandons North Adelaide
We would like to advise members that the Club registers it's disappointment upon seeing the 2009 SANFL Match Draw in today's newspaper. If the strategy of crowd maximisation underpins the draw, fairness and continuity will always be compromised. Consider the following:

The good news, three home games in the first five games. We understand that one Club has to have a bye in round one and we were due to receive that allocation.
Now to the challenges, from Sunday May 3 to Sunday July 12, we host one match at Prospect - one match in ten weeks !

Then to saturation point - five home games in six weeks from July 12 to August 16. If it ever happens to rain again in Adelaide resulting in a cold wet winter, our oval simply will not cope.
The Sunday games at Prospect are to avoid clashing with the Crows. We are committed to arresting the decline in crowds at home matches which has resulted in a significant income shortfall in recent years, particularly compared to several other SANFL Clubs. It is fact that North supporters have a clear affinity with the Crows and very few will attend two games on the one day.

Round 23, currently a home match on Sunday, is subject to change depending on AFL Finals.
Once again our Club will not host a match on the AFL free weekend, to be promoted as SANFL Rivalry Round.
Our Club believes that the traditional SANFL Football supporter prefers a program which provides continuity in terms of home and away matches. This Match Draw does not satisfy that philosophy. The Club voiced it's concerns with little effect, it may be time for supporters to register their protest with the SANFL direct on administration@sanfl.com.au

The draw does us no favours, the only way through is to win.

Isn't the statement from the website a tacit admission that neither the administration or the Board at North are up to the job? Their job is to manage the relationship with the SANFL in a way that would mean they get a few concessions regarding their draw. And surely bleating about it in such a public manner will mean they keep getting shafted for years to come?

Not that I care mind you. :D

Yes, but we've had the rivalry round against Central twice in two years, and no other pair of clubs twice:

2007:
Norwood vs Sturt
Port vs Glenelg
Central vs Eagles
South vs North

2008:
Norwood vs Port
Glenelg vs North
Sturt vs West
Central vs Eagles

Can't argue with that, but with the last round bye there are two positives - a rest before the finals should we make it, or an early finish to the season if we miss it.

Glenn Rosser at the SANFL has just advised 5AA listeners that Round 7 will be "Ladies Round".

That means that only 1 "theme" remains to be unveiled - for Rd 14 - with the others apart from Ladies Round being Rivalry Round and Charity Round.
