Time will tell, i think if everything falls into place for them with Skippy and Biglands, they should be back around the finals mark...

And as a matter of fact, yes, I did see a few of the Eagles games this year, was also involved in commentating their games for LifeFM...

If the Eagles are close to the salary cap there must be some serious overpayment of players going on because there wasn't much quality out there last year

I'm only going by what your coach said on the radio the other week...

I think guys like Treeby, Dabrowski, Mackenzie, Powell, Passador, Grocke, Fitzgerld, Fiacchi and Jarrad would tend to disagree with you on the "quality" comment...

But hey, that's your opinion and of course you are entitled to it. It shows you are passionate about your club which is great to see...

The Eagles are no where near the cap and if they were theres 6 other clubs well over it ,and hearing fullasaboot on the radio you could read between the lines that they are after other players we need at least 5 or 6 more to be around the mark and quality not the crap we were dished up last year ie robberts, biagi, gogoll ,malinovski etc

Well if thats your list of the best 9 players at the Eagles then it proves what an undermanned list we have. Most of the class players have gone since 2006 and they have not been replaced.

Not neccessarily the top 9 players (and in no particular order) at the Eagles, rather the first lot of league regulars that came to my mind. You name the top 10 players on your list and I reckon a fair majority of the names above will be there.

There are no doubt a few players gone from the 2006 Premiership side but that is just the nature of the beast that is list turn over. Last year probably wont go down as one of the Eagles best in terms of recruitments but I'm sure there will be improvement in the coming season.

Having seen Justin Ciccolella and Leigh Treeby today what has Treeby had done in the off-season as he had his arm in a sling? Looks like he may have had a shoulder op. Is he expected to be fit for the start of 2009?

Don't quote me on it, but didn't he hurt his shoulder late in the year this season just gone ? I think it was actually against the Bloods down at Broadspectrum Oval because I seem to remember Soders interviewing him after the game and he said it was the night of his engagement party so he would have to attend with it in a sling.

I would say he had surgery to fix it but it was awhile ago so perhaps he has injured it again since ? Maybe an Eagles supporter can confirm or deny this, I'm only going by what I seem to remember from last season ???

Treeby was always going to have an op. at the end of the season. The op. was delayed for sometime as he is self employed. Treeby will have a late start to the season. Also Jarred Wright has had another shoulder op. on the previously operated shoulder. Unsure how long he will be out for.

Treeby had a shoulder reco, out for approx. 6 months, so may miss a few weeks of the season. Wright tore his pec again, heard he fell off his bike while trying to maintain fitness, pretty unlucky for the bloke.

Also Eags have lost a few players.

Lee, Williamson, Pavlich, Dennis Redden - all playing at Henley.
Couch - told he was no longer required.

Can he play? Can someone supply some info. on him.

I think he was rated quite highly by Port a few years ago, but just hasnt come through, and Port have lost patience with him.
Maybe a straight swap for Shane Harris.

Will Harris get a shot at ports or be left out like he was at eagles though??

Pepe can play, bloke needs to bulk up a fair bit though!
he played state 18's and state 20's!
ive offered him the opurtunity to go on my diet but he has declined 8)
I would say he could play on the wing or flank with his stature at the moment
with 1 or 2 more talls up forward he could stretch a deffence for height!!!
get on board the thunder train!!!

I know Fairclough is pretty well respected by a few coaches around the SANFL holden and i for one think he is a good young player. I can't speak for the other players but they are young and deserve a chance IMO.

I think the Eagles will be short of young ruckman this year . i hope they are not just hoping that biglands will come through the pre season ok Unless they go and get some after the draft !!!

They are hoping to get Jacobs if they dont they are in deep SH-T . They need at least another 7 quality players or they will be down in the cellar ,which is where they are heading fast.

What about the backline who is going to play there - apart from Mcgregor there is no height and they are so slow - with Broadbent as good as gone and Petrenko likely to be with the Crows it's not looking good. At least Dennis Redden is gone absolute b grader his poor skill level will be more suited to the amateurs - there is another 3 or 4 that played in the league team last year that should be going with him.

There is only McGregor and Hier as tall backmen. Peter Fiacchi as a smaller backman. There really needs to be 4 recruits - 2 midfielders, 1 ruckman and 1 backman. Only one of those players has been recruited for sure - Jay Cheep.

But is Jay Cheep any good - he struggled to make te Geelong VFL team last year and they hardly won a game. I'd be trying to get Lomas back to the club.

We'll have to wait and see, but if Centrals were after him, he must be good.
