Thought it was in poor form and at that stage of the game it was not in funny at all - I guess I just have different standards than those that were booing.

After watching games in the late 80s and early 90s where touch ups were the norm I quickly began to appreciate what being humble was all about in the late 90s and the early part of this decade.

Ive been to many Sturt-North games and NA have been on the backend of some Sturt whippings and I have never booed the opposition if they are beeing given a touch up.

I have a long standing bet with North supporters who I am close to that who ever loses must go back to presentations and drink the winners beer. We did this and even they thought it was in poor form.

I have posted some positive things about the game on other threads - just in case you have selective reading

So what is your point.
& some of us North fans remember (& did not appreciate it) when the Sturt faithfull gave it to Scotty Sutherland when he did his knee. Cheering as someone gets a serious injury is just pathetic.

NOt many were there. Gave me enourmous pleasure to see it too. I will conceed tho that if the game was staged between 99-03 u would have had what we had but wouldv e had less than u.

We were there - not to much to cheer about when this bloke called Gill turned it on and on and on.

Didnt appreciate the booing though when Sturt finally kicked a goal late in the second quarter.

Blind freddy knew it was over and it wasnt a good feeling to see what was unfolding.

Booing at that stage of the game was in response to our team letting you score not actually directed at anyone or actually at Sturt. Haven't your heard the term "Bronx Cheer" which is basically what it was! How can that be in poor taste it has happened for decades at all forms of sport! You don't think the Port fans didn't boo when North kicked their only goal in the 1989 GF - I didn't get all worked up and think it was in bad taste, it was expected. I yelled out an ironic cheer as I was that embarassed to add to the whole thing.

There was some booing late in the last quarter when Sturt kicked goals, but that was more aimed at the margain being reduced to under 100pts.
At 3/4 time there was only 2 things left that I wanted from the game, 30 goals, and a 100+ winning margain, something North have not achieved since the early 90's, and not something that many sides are in a position to do very often (except perhaps Centrals, and anyone playing North in 2003  )
The booing was not aimed directly at Sturt, more at the score board and the lost opportunity to rack up the first 100 pt win since well before my nearly 12 year old son was born.
A couple of posters in the last 1/4 also got loud cheers for the same reason.

im sure the booing wasnt aimed at sturt....ive been disappointed when we have won by a kick under a 100 and jeered when the opposition got one back....purely aimed at the scoreboard.

cant say that we will be winning by a 100 anytime soon. :?

Sturt supporters seem to be a bit touchy!

I was pretty pissed off that the marging got under 100, I was the same as Ian... desperate for a three figure margin, i was also hoping we would 'do a Dizzy' and crack the double ton!
Its been about 15 years since we won by 100, i was pretty young and I can honestly say I've never been to a game where North have won by a ton.

I was on the hill and was one of the supporters that booed the Sturt goal toward the end of the 2nd Q.

At no point was it aimed toward Sturt, but just that the momentum had changed with the goal and it was a bronx.

Hey, what North had experienced in the early 2000's I would never boo a side.

Mind you I gave Rehn a big serve at Prospect last year when he tried his roughing up tactics before the first bounce again. And did he bite back.

Some of you north supporters continue to state that sturt supporters were booing. That is very observant. I was the Sturt supporter that was yawning and picking my nose, does anyone have photos or recall the incidents.
But it was more than a victory for Greece. It was a stirring example to free people throughout the world of what a few brave men can accomplish once they refuse to submit to tyranny.

I think the goal that RM is talking about is the one where the North supporters booed - a "bronx" type reaction for the margin going under 100 points - can't say I heard any booing then from Sturt fans and no one is saying otherwise from what I have read? However when Sturt were walking off the ground there were plenty of Sturt supporters "sending them off" with advice and boo's. No different to most other clubs as I have served it up to North when they have had shockers.

I remember copping a 90-odd point thumping at the hands of Sturt at Adelaide Oval in 94' and the Blues fans were freaking out at the umpires and slagging the Leg's probably harder in the final quarter than any other ... At the end of the day mate it's all fair in love and footy and whilst we all enjoy the heights of a cycle, we also must endure the lows!
