Ian Perrie too has remained in SA after coming here for AFL reasons.
Let's not forget him ;)

As drebin pointed out he did play there a bit but played more forward. Really the reason is the lack of a quality ruck division that the club has had for a number of years yet failed to address. I beleive the new coach has already identified this issue that took someone else 5 years to admit was a problem.

4 years  big commitment from both parties...

it is great to see the SANFL hold onto blokes like this, the standard of the comp is growing every year this decade IMO

As for the Salary Cap...FFS I wish people would get over it...the most annoying thing about this forum I reckon

Awesome pickup for the Roosters too as he's top shelf at SANFL level

Mark McKenzie is another who comes to mind originaly aligned to the Eagles when he was selected as a rookie with Power after being delisted and being picked up by Carlton on rookie list and being delisted again we managed to recruit him back to the club. Now he remains an Eagle our club captain - one of our best players and indeed of the sanfl comp.

Two others

Ryan Willitts has already signed for Westies, James Ezard stayed on after being cut

Damon White would have to be considered by some clubs in the Draft & pre-season draft, he is better than some of the others on offer

well done to both parties involved the NAFC firstly for having the guts to offer such a long contract (4 years these days is an eternity) and the Damon for accepting it. I am sure both will gain out of it and quality players like Damon only bring more people to watch the game

I understand he is not nominating for the draft so therefore he can't be selected /picked so that is why North announced the signing pre-draft.

Having said that however, I remember reading somewhere once that players who are cut at the end of a season are automatically included in the very next draft? Maybe someone with a bit more knowledge on the draft rules etc can clarify this?

It annoys me too Dutchy, the unfairness of some teams getting around it and others sticking to it creating an uneven playing field and as long as that continues people like me will keep banging on about it.

You're right Drebin, as far as I know.
I thought it might have actually been the next two drafts.
Once that period's up and it's clear the player's career is over, they then receive a pay out from the AFL players fund (IIRC). That pretty much signifies the end of their ride.

I have had it confirmed that as a delisted player he (White) cannot be automatically included in the draft - he must actually nominate to be picked up sso that is why North announced the signing pre-draft as there is no fear that he will nominate nor can he get picked unknowingly.

Whilst it is good for North that he has signed on for such a long time i am very suprised a guy of his age and ability is throwing away any chance of an AFL career.

You never saw him play for the Power then?

Four years? Let's hope it all works out for both parties.

Anyone else hear the one about John Condon turning up at Elizabeth Oval for a salary cap audit to be greeted by Kris Grant and four QCs?

I'm surprised with the rivers of money that flows from Grand Centrals poker machines to their much loved community that they had the money left over to hire such high powered legal advice.

I have seen him play Topsy  .

I do think though he is better than a lot of other sides 3rd tall defender. There are many people still on AFL lists that don't have half the ability he does and i am just surprised he has given up any chance of resurrecting his career.

He's been shopped around at season end for most of the last 4 years as I understand. The Crows were interested a few years back I think. But, other than that, no-one else has wanted to pick him up it seems so he's probably decided enough is enough and time to move on.

Having said that, a 4 year contract doesn't mean he can't ever play AFL again I am sure he would be able to go if an opportunity presented.

Good pick up for us, well done North :D

Too true WHUFC.

Norwood can't afford high powered QCs to deal with its legal affairs Topsy?
I'd assume it would be the sign of a professional club to have quality lawyers at hand for when they're required....
