Do you need it? Well as a Norwood supporter I say yes as it will mean we get to wear our traditional jumper against South at HOME!
Your traditional guernsey needs to stay though for all your home games.
Its great that other SANFL clubs want to have an "Away" or a "Clash" guernsey, yet much like the management of the Collingwood FC I dont agree with it either and as long as it doesnt become a binding directive of the SANFL I dont see that it has to become an issue.
I do accept that when South play Norwood at the Parade then some of our Norwood friends may feel in some way annoyed that we as a club dont have a "clash" guernsey and that as a result Norwood wear their away guernsey as they do when they play Westies at the Parade. My suggestion to resolve the problem is for South to wear our "Heritage" guernsey which looks somewhat similar to the current Geelong guernsey because that way the clash issue is dealt with and at the same time the history of the club is exemplified.
With Port going into the AFL, South are the oldest SANFL club still going having been one of the founding clubs of the league. I feel that this is one of the best parts of the club that we have such a long and rich history as a club and I dont want to see people come into the club who clearly dont see things in the same way and make these types of changes, especially when in 5 years time their time at the SAFC may be little more than a distant memory.
