Do you need it? Well as a Norwood supporter I say yes as it will mean we get to wear our traditional jumper against South at HOME!

Your traditional guernsey needs to stay though for all your home games.

Maybe they could do a white with blue logo, reverse of current for away matches. Although white seldom inspires, believe me.

Yeah, only inspired Central to win from 6 goals down in the last 25 minutes at Norwood :?

Not only don't we need it the alternative is disgraceful, who designed it and why bother are my questions.

Actually we do want to see it. If other supporters contact the club bagging it, they might listen.

I agree with Barto- give us a look, we can let the club know we want South to wear the guernsey, and then they will dismiss it.... :?

LMAO.
I was more referring to that abomination we once wore in the Hicks era. It was about 90% white, and awful (red shorts, what were we thinking!). The current one I don't mind, because the number of stripes gives balance.

We digress - Panter fans, get a pic in this thread and let's see if THIS is the reason you'll make the five in 2009!

Agreed that south would be making an ill decision in changing the jumper. Interesting to know what colour the numbers are planned to be also. South top five in 2009.... wishfull thinking.

Its great that other SANFL clubs want to have an "Away" or a "Clash" guernsey, yet much like the management of the Collingwood FC I dont agree with it either and as long as it doesnt become a binding directive of the SANFL I dont see that it has to become an issue.

I do accept that when South play Norwood at the Parade then some of our Norwood friends may feel in some way annoyed that we as a club dont have a "clash" guernsey and that as a result Norwood wear their away guernsey as they do when they play Westies at the Parade. My suggestion to resolve the problem is for South to wear our "Heritage" guernsey which looks somewhat similar to the current Geelong guernsey because that way the clash issue is dealt with and at the same time the history of the club is exemplified.

With Port going into the AFL, South are the oldest SANFL club still going having been one of the founding clubs of the league. I feel that this is one of the best parts of the club that we have such a long and rich history as a club and I dont want to see people come into the club who clearly dont see things in the same way and make these types of changes, especially when in 5 years time their time at the SAFC may be little more than a distant memory. :?

5 years isn't a distant memory and I don't know why you'd be pessimistic about the future of the SAFC, they're probably one of the most secure clubs around.

Barto are u an undercover south fan with an alias of a sturt supporter? Having said that, the positive nature of your comments towards the SAFC is what is need from the SA fans themselves, move on from 08, concentrate on a good pre season, look forward to 09, and enjoy playing in the tradition South Adelaide geurnsey.

darley16 wrote:Westcoast, maybe the new jumper design sent out to members will help...NOT!! Apart from that stupid idea and ugly ugly design, stable coach, inlcuding Tony Burgess, Ben Hollands and Robbie Neill, vast majority of players have already re-signed including all the promising youth plus the senior players Parry, Torney, Warren Thewlis etc. Meeting at the club on the 15/10 for all members to attend to discuss (and vomit over) the new jumper design and Q&A session with board and coaches, this is all a good start.

The last thing the Panthers need to do is change their jumper. Perhaps the heirachy down South should concentrate more on the on ground performance of the club rather than stuff around with a damn good football gurnsey. We've all seen some pretty hideous attempts by clubs to change their look...even if its only an away strip, just look at Westies away jumper..its a bloody disgrace....even Norwoods alternative strip is atrocious... totally agree with you Darley16...time for all South members to send a loud message to the board to leave it alone!!

The new guernseys are shite.

I don't have a scanner handy, so can't post the pics, but the gist is as follows:

1) Navy, with 2 horizontal white stripes across the middle... to the left of this is the new Panther from the logo facing the right.

2) Geelong's guernsey with the Panther logo in the middle.

3 and 4 are the inverses of 1 and 2 (so the blue becomes white and vice versa).

I don't want the guernsey touching, personally.
The South guernsey's one of the best in the league, and is virtually the only thing left at the club that binds us to any form of success.

I started going to games in about '95 (I was 12), so basically, I've seen one finals campaign and 12 years of absolute shite.

All of this has been in the current guernsey, so when we finally win a premiership, I want it to be in the same jumper. We've all been waiting years for success, and when it finally happens, I want it to be in the same jumper we've watched struggle year after year.
Any other jumper and it would take away from the magnitude of the achievement, in my eyes.

Theres no pics on the Panthers official website or their forum of this guernsey. Thats a pretty bad way to treat their supporters who aren't members and other SANFL supporters. If it is as bad a design as what is suggested, having no pics anywhere just breeds negativity among supporters who havent seen it but just have to go by word of mouth.

You are perhaps getting slightly carried away WCP but I agree with your sentiment.

The safc constitution states that the safc jumper shall be prominentlyblueandwhite. It also states that the jumper can only be altered by a vote of the membership. Going on the consensus of this forum and the panther forum I would say that the board have zero chance of changing the jumper.
