It's only the 4th time ever that Central has gone through the 2nd half goalless, this is the last occasion:

Round 17 1967
Port 6.2 7.4 7.6 8.8 (56)
Central 0.0 1.5 1.6 1.6 (12)
Elizabeth, 4550

The other two occasions were Round 4 1964 (Glenelg) and Round 12 1966 (Woodville).

Great win BUT Port won so we need to keep winning and it doesn't get any easier fronting the Bays at Glenelg next Sunday followed by Port at Prospect.

I'm still shaking my head as to how we could lose to South last week when we had all the play and this week keep Centrals goaless after half time and win by 50 points! Why has it taken 3/4 of the season to play with passion and intensity for 4 quarters against a really good opposition? I hope it wasn't all for the fact Younie was playing his 150th?

However premierships are not won in August which was kindly pointed out by a couple of Centrals guys we were having a drink with after the game and very true it is, after all we beat Centrals this time last year and look what happened. Central will still be right up there as a big flag threat where as we are still to make the 5.

The test for our club will be to see if we can win the remaining 3 games.

Did you ask that in the preview thread or do you just open your trap after your team wins?

North defeating Central and Norwood defeating Sturt show what I've been saying all year that side that turns up with their minds switched on week in week out will go places this year.

Anyone who thinks their is premiership favourite and that it is limited to a race between three a sorely mistaken.

A case can be made for each of the top seven teams to be there on GF day.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Very well said TM but it is a hell of a lot easier getting to GF from the top 3 spots than from 4th or 5th. Although it can be done it is near on impossible to win a flag from the Elim having to win 3 hard games just to get there and then playing a 4th game against a team that has had at least 1 week off in the finals. If North win the next 3 and make the finals then who knows what might happen but I won't hold my breath given we got towelled up last year having to play 4 games in 4 weeks. Norwood might also be a good chance to even make a GF given their impressive performances throughout '08.

Still results like we had yesterday and through the previous weeks reinforce how good our comp really is!

All I can say is, thank your God that Footy Park isn't as bad in October, as it was yesterday.

Agree Drebin, I'm very happy that we have the double chance sown up - for the reasons that you alluded to.

However the double chance doesn't provide us with any immunity from a side that comes switched on ready to play.

Central showed last week that when they come ready to play they are a fantastic unit.

Some coaches are going to earn their money over the next eight weeks as player management, preparation and motivation are going to be paramount in getting to the first Sunday in October

It is a race between the top three. A couple of upsets in shocking conditions a month out from finals doesn't change the way the season has panned out overall. It would require a massive choke from one of the top 3 teams to not at least make it to Preliminary Final day.

Yeah, that's because I had to get back up into the grandstand in a hurry to get the microphone I was using for LifeFM out of the wet. It was the State Game we last caught up, but it was good to see you again mate and like I said to you, your side thoroughly deserved the win, played much better in the conditions. Might see you in the finals hey...

I can assure Aerie the Glenelg FC doesn't take the eagles lightly we still think you are a tough side to beat.
