well sturt may have had thurstans, bentley, thompson & reilly but what they missed was whiteman, norwood played almost 4 quarters today (sturt did have some control in the 2nd) norwood played a very smart wet weather game by just getting the ball forward & making a contest when sturt did have the ball & sturt tried to play too much 'pretty football' with too much handball which usually ended up getting turned over as the ball slipped out of a players hand, now just like glenelgs loss last week it'll do more good than harm for sturt in the long run but the question beckons if we have a wet september/october can sturts style change to suit those conditions ?

Should we bribe Les to leave the sprinklers running in September?

I've already started a movement to encourage all Norwood supporters to save our grey water and sneakily water the relevant ovals before the matches from now on.

Sturt shouldn't lose any heart at all with this one. Having won 9 of their last 10, inevitable they would hit a flat spot eventually and in conditions they don't generally adjust to, it was almost a loss they had to have. Bentley and Thomson adjusted very well to the conditions, and Reilly had some sound moments throughout also. Thurstans was thrown all over the park, but just could not get near it for most of the day, and credit to Plant for a great stopping job on Vlatko. Many Blues had their moments, but just not enough for the full four quarters.

Norwood just looked switched on from the opening bounce and appeared ready for the conditions straightaway. Despite only 16 disposals, thought Weatherald was clearly one of the best afield for his work at the stoppages. Gallagher great throughout, although missed targets a few times, and Duigan gives plenty of poise and run. Jericho's third quarter was one of his best at the club, and the dribbled goal would have done Daniel Motlop proud. Walker presented hard throughout, and Rowe's second half was also excellent. Trotter's efforts were not to be underestimated also - there was quality in his 16 disposals and lots of little things off the ball that were important. An excellent team performance by the Redlegs.
Can you guess where I'm calling from, the Las Vegas Hilton...

i dont want him in the team at all...we have other players playing for the jumper more. if i had my way, id have him in the 2's.

the only afl player i want is thomson and he has played more with us this year anyway...maybe bentley too as he is in the same boat as thommo...

regardless of how well reilly plays, id rather have an SFC player in the side.

Reilly did play well for us yesterday, one of our better performers but lets be realistic, we arent going to see too much of him and we wont have him for the finals

Norwwod played smart wet weather Footy.

Sturt came expecting to win and played accordingly

I would like CK's opinions of the confusing, inconsistent Umpiring ALL DAY. Thank you very much mate.

Thanks to Norwood for their professional hospitality at the Luncheon and to the wonderful Guests including Potts and Keith Thomas.

Well done Norwood.

Sturt will bounce back. We just don't play well on smaller Ovals in atrocious conditions. Look at Unley Round 4 2007. :( :(

SP - Give it a break will you.
Every week since 1978 you've been whinging about the umpires.
Yesterday was tough conditions for the umpires as well as the players.
Fact is Norwood played better and that's all there is to it.

A lot of people don't realise just how difficult umpiring is in matches like we saw yesterday at Norwood.
