Congratulations to both clubs on the Close the Gap promotion.

We also wish Ian Perrie a speedy recovery - hopefully will be OK - did look a sick boy as he left the ground.

Also terrific to see so many Eagles past players at the ground today.

I didn't post last night came home a little under the weather mainly from the wind in the first game .
Was a gallant effort by the Young guys but one good tall short this week .
Eagles helped by the Perrie injury enabling trent to move up forward and kick a couple of goals before he got injured .
Corbet looked very good on the ball .
Why the PUP was not playing for the crows is beyond me .And Broadbent was just as good .Goldsworthy tried very hard .
Well done to a underperforming Sturt yesterday. Went there thinking will get done by 10 goals and for 7th to lose by 16 points to 2nd was as a said a gallant effort .And nice to see the EAGLES CLOSE the HOLE left for Chambers mainly when Dobber was rucking .this seemed to slow Sturt for a while .
And i will never blame the umpiring for a loss .But would love an umpire to clarify the advantage rule to me .Eagles got a free in the third quarter the ball came out to a free player ball kicked forward for a goal brought back no advantage .In the same spot in the Fourth quarter sturt get a free ball gets handballed to wicks (ithink) in the goal square who kicks the goal advantage payed .whats the differance ?

Eagles fans we lost yesterday but the youth looks good for coming tears if not drafted that is .

I dont normally agree with you Peter mate I will in regards to yesterday's match .It was not just the field umpires either in both grades yesterday the boundary umpires had problems calling the ball out along the members wing .
While on the oval why is the surface so bad at unley would have to be the worst surface at present .Not having a dig Sturt fans but the oval looked awful while the rest of the ground was fantastic .

We noted that too - it almost looks like the grass had a bug outbreak in it. Quite patchy and bare in places which is unusual for Unley

I think the club should have more functions to get these blokes back a bit more often. Makes for a great day and gave it a real club feel.

Pleasing to see that sense prevails and the sturt lad's report has been withdrawn - was worth the free kick and probably the 50m.

Agree with Micky - the lads coming through look to be a very exciting group but will we keep them??

Re the advantage rule i think the ump had called time off in our case and thus the game had stopped and couldnt call advatage whereas time wasnt called in the Sturt case - if wrong happy to be corrected.

Micky the umpiring was bad all over, the example you mention for the Eags happened for Sturt also on the western wing running out of half back in the 3/4 I think. Both reports were a joke only we copped a 50m for ours. 12 frees to 21??? Sturt weren't that un-disciplined. Warren partland writes a good article about the game in todays 'Tiser.
Even the umpires will want to forget the game. How can no umpire be inside the 50m arc when Ryan Herring marked next to the point post late in the third quarter? And please explain why when an umpire makes an absolute clanger he drags a player back 25m because he naturally reacts to the shocking decision with a few words?
