I was at both games REB, Norwood were good today with virtually no opposition, when they had a deccent opposition they were carp, in reality North should be about 4 spots out of the finals, Norwood should be at the edge of the finals giving it a shake but are nowhere close to the Top 3.
Good luck to Norwood though, always an enjoyable day there, great to go to an Oval with decent catering when we're used to Prospect.

I'll give credit to the Legs.
I thought their first quarter was very good and their second quarter only slightly behind that.
The contest was all over at about 2.20pm and now the posters who thought we were talking out of our rear ends, should fully understand that North are CRAP and a RABBLE

saw a bit of this game on tele, and i thought that Walker kid looked good. I wonder how closely the Crows will be watching him now that they have some injury concerns.

He did look good and Gilly despite not being the Crows worst against Geelong (actually was one of the few presenting a lead) hasn't got a chance of getting back in the Crows side ahead of Walker, Walker should be straight in next week IMHO.

Yep, spot on. Walker's timing is immaculate and there is now an opening for him at the Crows. I reakon he'll easily make the transition too...he like a bit of big time..witness his performance at Oval Ave earlier this season.

No! Walker has to play for Norwood for the rest of the season.
The Crows can have Sellar or Jericho, or perhaps McGregor.

I know this will sound a little like a Norwood supporter just wanting to hang onto a good player for the rest of the season, but IMHO Walker is simply not ready for AFL footy.

Yes, it would be tempting to select him, but he is not senior football hardened, and is only just feeling his way at SANFL level. Sudden elevation to AFL ranks could be more a setback than anything.

Just remember this. He kicked bags of goals against Eagles, Sturt, South and North, but in between all that he stood the experienced Ferguson from Westies who held him virtually kickless all afternoon.

If a former AFL player can do that in a losing team, imagine what a current one would do. Nope, leavce him where he is and take a look at him in 2009.

Great win today by the Legs, our first half was very good indeed. I had to leave at half time, so it looks as though I picked the right half to miss :)

AH - last year I didn't think Wonaemirri was ready and this year he has taken great steps forward at Melbourne. This year, Walker to me is ready, but he would benefit more by a full season in the SANFL and take real confidence to the selection table in 2009. I think the Crows have a similar view but their hand may be tipped this week with the injury to Burton. Walker was certainly better than Gill or Jericho were today (Jericho went goal less for the day, as did Gill). BTW Walker had illness vs Westies and was his breakfast was especially unwell at half time. Ferguson played well and was Westies best player, but he wasn't on Walker all day either.

Well, if the Crows want to stuff up a young player's development, then by all means pick him next week. As you said, Wonaeamirri has played well this season in AFL, but only after a FULL season in the SANFL. Had they picked him in July last season he wouldn't have got a kick.

Both lads have come from lesser competitions and are taking it a step at a time. If the Crows are thinking "bigger picture", they'd leave him where he is.

You're just carrying on about it AH because you are a selfish Norwood supporter who doesn't want his side effected by an AFL selection

Look at Justin Westhoff as an example FFS, a lot of this kind of talk was mentioned of Justin in his debut season in the AFL and look what he went and did last year. I think the Crows tried another kid earlier in the year by bringing Sellar in after no spectacular form in the SANFL so why not bring in a young impressive talent who is in form and kicking goals. :?

I would not be suprised at all if he does get picked and might just do okay for himself. As a selfish Doggies supporter, I'm hoping like hell the Crows pick him (although Tex did play reserves last time the Dogs and the Legs met) but more so for the kid, I hope he gets an opportunity. You don't know what you will get sometimes when you throw them to the wolves, so lets just wait and see what happens come Thursday night for selections hey.

I reckon... ADELAIDE: In - Walker, Jericho and Kite (all Norwood  ) and Out: Griffin (Centrals  ) Burton and Porplycia (injured) In all seriousness though, I reckon Walker will make his AFL debut next week. Also, I hope The Power make changes and go with... In: Cockshell, Thomas (although he didn't play for Norwood today) and Out: Westhoff and ??? Who cares

IMHO for all the great qualities he shows Walker isn't ready yet for AFL ... Still doesn't give quite enough effort on multiple presentation, and doesn't work hard enough on his defensive side.

The boy has natural composure, hands and foot skills no doubt, and can play both small and tall, but still has a bit to learn about the harder working aspect IMHO ... Thats not to say he isn't a great proposition, I just think the timing needs to be right.

Then, taking your Norwood hat off for a minute CP, do you think the timing might be right for him to make his AFL debut next week ???

Burton and Porplycia out for the Crows, both forwards (generally) and who have they got, in the SANFL in good form playing better than Tex to warrant or justify selection over young Walker. By all reports, Nick Gill was average today, probably not a chance after being dropped last week, Luke Jericho might come in for Porplycia but he didn't do much today either by the reviews I've heard or read and James Sellar is in no where near great form for the Bays and shouldn't be considered while Trent Hentschell didn't play this week and is struggling with soft tissue injuries.

Like I say, for the kids sake, I hope he gets a game this week. He certainly deserves it and I reckon he is ready for the next step despite what others are saying. So is that the right timing then ?

As I said Phil, personally for his own development, Im not sure if he should go up yet ... That said, I believe he should be in front of a few others in the queue in terms of ability, and as with any AFL listed at Norwood I wish them all the best and that they get themselves the opportunity that they're chasing.

My initial comments weren't Jarman-esque in trying to score a break for our club, I was just thinking about the lads own progression .. The injuries at AAMI this weekend could have forced his promotion though.

Whether to play Walker or not is a hard one. I’ve convinced myself one way or another many times and right now, I say play him. He’s not ready and he could potentially suffer as a result but what first year players, especially forwards, are ever truly ready? Walker to me comes across as a guy who would flourish at being given a shot at the highest level. He’s a real confidence player and he just loves playing the game. He will struggle and there will be times where he looks out of his depth but I just have this feeling that he could be a real boom at AFL level even at the age of 18.

I just think that the Crows have a disastrous forward line and playing Walker couldn’t make it any worse. With Burton and Porplyzia going down they’re in desperate need of forwards and Walker’s in good form. Real tough one though and I can definitely see either side of the argument but for me, I'd play him.
