Because this match was described in the Advertiser as "inconsistent as the female mind". Imagine if that was said or published now!

No, it's not just Eagles games. They seem to love this Rex Hunt crap of calling players by their self-imposed nicknames rather than their real names. This only serves to annoy the listenener, but the callers seem to think it's clever for some reason.
There's one player (can't remember who it is) they keep calling the "love chocolate", and it gets on my nerves. Just call the damned players' names ... and just call the game!!!

Andrew Rogers is also an outstanding candidate if it was no personality they were discussing at the time ! Definately a case of the blind leading the blind at the Eagles with these two , what do you think Mickyj ?

That would be Biasci (sp), also used to call Nick Gill (real nickname Emu) the wild man of Borneo. I can live with the nicknames as long as I know who they are talking about, but you're right, would be better if they just called the players by their names.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's the correlation between Biacsi and chocolates?
I recall a female friend of mine who knew her footy, was up with the players' names, but hadn't heard Rex Hunt before. She was in Melbourne and tuned into 3AW for the footy and copped Hunt. She said she had absolutely no idea what he was talking about or which players (or team) had the ball.
To me it's self-indulgent crap and God only knows why Hunt has proliferated the air waves for as long as he has. We rely on radio callers to be our eyes, and paint a mental picture of the action. When the listener is struggling to picture the game, the caller is not doing their job.

Obviously we don't have too many romantic men out there...![]()
They refer to Biasci because it sounds like BACI (pronounced B..A..H...C..H..I..) which is a little chocolate, known as a Baci Kiss...
They are a bit like the Ferrero Roche's, you know the little round ball chocolates, individually rapped up...
They are supposed to be a romantic chocolate, you buy for your girlfriend or boyfriend when you ar out for tea or something...
hence the nickname, LOVE CHOCOLATE for young Shane...
