The dollman was standing near us. Thats how they treat past champions of the club. Not a true supporter of the club imo.

How did Cockshell go?
How did thomson run out the game? Does he look to have recovered from his "OP"?

NFC wrote:Frustrated at losing a game I thought we could and should have won. Norwood came out on fire and shot out to a 5 goals to 1 lead thanks to great work from the midfield who tackled well and applied great defensive pressure. We got lots of run out of defence, especially Puopulo who was absolutely outstanding early before drifting out of the game. Gallagher and Thomas very good in the midfield for the Legs whilst Walker was dangerous up forward kicking 5. Walker the dominant forward in the first half and Chambers in the second who completely destroyed Zorzi and took a number of marks deep in attack.

We were great in the first half but Sturt dominated play in the 3rd and we were lucky not to be down by 4 or 5 goals such was the dominance of Sturt. Sturt supporters sure do like to complain about the umpiring at every oppertunity and it's been a while since I've heard a call to rush a behind when you're 40 metres from the goal. Don't want to make excuses but I will, Kite was a late withdrawal and it proved costly as we lacked some speed and height in defence. Losing Campbell to injury and Lower to the Power didn't help either. And lastly, Aish needs to go harder and McDonnell needs to go back to the reserves.

If you don't want to make excuses NFC then don't. I think the loss of your players was more than nullified by the abscence of Sharples(state team player)and late withdrawal of Wark(state team player) and Gum (state squad mamber).Lucky for Norwood they didn't play or the final margin would have been much greater

Cockshell was very ordinary. Seemed to have no impact up forward or in the ruck.

Thomson didn't have his best game, finished with 1.2 and about 20 possessions. Was up against Power teammate Thomas for parts of the day and couldn't seem to get much space. Ball use was a bit on the ordinary side at times.

Lower, Campbell, Kite > Sharples, Wark, Gum.

As a neutral supporter i'd say those players cancel each other out, especially as the Norwood ones aren't technically Redlegs players but all 3 Sturt players are purely SANFL players.

I didn't say Best on Ground. Reread the post! Actually they gave BOG to Tim Weatherald.

Cmon mate. Lower 7th in the league for average possessions per game with 24. Campbell averaging about 20 and 5 tackles. Kite rapidly improving and has been in our best in about half of his appearances. This could turn into a petty argument so I'll try at end it now but IMO those losses for Norwood were massive as they have all been huge contributors this year. But yeh, those losses for Sturt were pretty significant as Sharples in particular has been playing awesome footy this year.

Well Sturt won so I just assumed they awarded Thomson BOG...

IMO the best player on the groud was probably Chambers who dragged Sturt over the line with a huge last half. However we wasn't a four quarter performer. Herring and Evans caught my attention at times, and Sheedy gave them lost of run in the last term in particular.

Weatherald BOG? Wasn't in my top 5 for Norwood. Thomas, Gags, Walker, Puopulo and Doyle were Norwood's 5 best.

I would rather have the 3 norwood players in my team than the 3 sturt players anyday of the year.

Probably fair enough, but those 3 Sturt players have been fairly influential for them this year, and the Redlegs should see their 3 players as a bonus given that they're not technically SANFL players ;)

Quality game to watch today at the great Unley Oval(dont care what is called now, still Unley) 4500 people great atmosphere. Norwood ran us of out our feet and were winning the majority of the contests in the first half. Blues settled though and prob should have won by about 5 goals kicked about 20 points if i remember rightly.

Loosing Gum was massive as he has been in great form and gives us so much run off of half back and silky skills sets up an easy day for the forwards. Perrie worked hard in the first half and chambo dominated the second. Good signs for the blues as they steadied themselves against a team who threw everything at them

Good signs for Norwood much improved since i saw them last but massive problem with depth at the club. No player in the reserves could come up and win a league position.

Tall defenders Schulz and Pollock should get a go. We need a proper FB, not Zorzi who tries hard but should be a midfielder.
