When you see what can and cant be achieved with a new coach from outside a club eg. sturt & glenelg , its almost time for some brutal honesty at the eagles fc . Recruiting has always been left to Ron ( ask any official ! ) and its in the toilet ! ! That and baffling gameday moves make it seem like the whole situation has nearly run its coarse , very stale . The players seem to be bored even with the regular dressing down / pumping up at qtr. half 3qtr times . Makes me remember when Hamilton came to us an did such an excellent job straight away !Since 06 a very slow decline has been occuring similar to our 2 years after the 93 flag ...............remember ! The board need to have a bloody hard look at things and be brutally honest with this or the next few years will be a basket case , I have no doubt .

Holden I know we have not always seen eye to eye on the EAGLES but this year reminds me so much of Winters last year its very eerie IMHO.
And Still the Eagles are 1 game out of the five

From what I've seen of him, he is quite mobile for a big man, and gets a lot of the ball around the ground. Awkward kicking action though, but that's to be expected from a ruckman.

Saturday showed that the Eagles lacked something in the ruck division along with the midfielders.

Yes, well you got it in one, the coaching staff should read this - Lee has to come in! Give him a go.

Have been thinking about Lee getting a game .
Not because he has stuck around and done the hard yards so to speak .But because Dobber and young Roberts are similar ruck types .I know they are not totally the same. But Lee is more the knock Ruckman type while the other two are not .The knock ruckman my be extinct in the AFL but this type of player still has a place at SANFL Level.
And to mix up the ruck will also mean the Eagles are not dishing up the same old ruck taps. Which after the third centre bounce on Saturday Norwood was reading quite well.
Lets be truthful I don't think young Roberts was the ruckman being beat by the Norwood Rucks.

For me Wedgetail you are correct its time to recall Hier and if the radio guys are right Kenny will be playing with us for sometime .
I would like to go further and say PUP on one wing and Couch on the other. Both with the orders to run all day and run very very fast.
Luke Jarrad I have been very unkind to after last weeks game .He is not right to play down back (I know I thought they the coaching panel were trying to turn him into a quarter back type not going to work) and he has lost some pace for the wing either move him onto the ball or make him a centreman. Other wise a rest in the two's to freshen him up .And never play Trent down back in an Eagles team he must play up forward.
I would keep an eye on young player in the two's by the name of Goldsworthy looked very good.

I would expect to see Kenny McG back in the tri-colours of Eagles this week. He generally plays very well for us. The coaching staff need to play Hentschell forward all day - he's not a backman. Fitzgerald will be better this week. Sure the Panthers will want to impress their new coach but if the Eagles play to their best they should be victorious by at least goals.

Well no Passador damn .
IMHO will Jake Pavlich be fit enough his face looked awful after last weeks training mishap.
So what do younger players need to do to get into this Eagles line up .Last week should have been a wake up call that changes were needed I would have played Lee and Couch one for height (and to rid the sameness that is our ruck division) and the other for pace.
There I have said my piece .

I don't think the loss of Passador will be a bad thing. He has performed very well, but tall forwards are a dime a dozen at the Eagles at the moment and we haven't been winning with him kicking a bag every week anyway.

Hopefully Hier does well - he's a player who when in form, does a very good job and the type we need at the moment. I liked the way Geddes went about it last week, although not real effective, you could see he was trying hard and that is a critisicm of his game. I'm tipping this is the game he'll come of age as a league player and prove to himself he's good enough.

There's some players who are lucky to be picked and hopefully will turn their season around.

OK going to rant again and here goes my BP
What's the point of having these great TALL FORWARDS if we can not get the ball out of centre .
Why are we bringing straight back in after injury a 31 yo ? I have nothing against Gavin but someone younger not playing for the state team must be available .
And I read Rons Email why is Flash still on the WING !!! A bloody Mack truck could've turned on to its left foot in a smaller truning circle than he did .Get Jarrad into the centre or ruckrove would do more for the team .Bring more pace in for the wing either PUP or COUCH.
Rant over .

Aerie you liked Geddes .Myself I liked Rimmington he is adding a presence on the field .Every effort should be made to keep him and not let him go home !!

Someone said that Passador straightened the side up when going forward. And his inclusion in the forward line coincided with the Norwood win in Round 4. I hope that it's only a short term injury.

And in round one we had a Pagans Paddock working with Schwarze kicking 8 goals and 2 out on the full.

The key to anyone kicking goals is getting the ball to them out of teh centre.something the Eagles need to work on after last weeks game.

I like Rimington as well. He is an example of a player who we have recruited with a longer term view. Possibly like Couch this year. So the recruiting is not all bad and not unlike what we have successfully tried in the past with Treeby etc. If Rimington can develop the quick give to go along with his improvements in all other areas, he could become a very good on baller - which is what we're crying out for.

I disagree with your thoughts on Jarrad. I reckon he is a natural wingman if ever there was one. Just needs to get back a bit of mongrel in him and get back to one touch footy. His kicking skills are much needed delivering to the forwards and kicking goals.

I also think Colville is valuable every time he gets on the park - perhaps more suited to a back lines role now - but we shouldn't take for granted the opportunity to see him pull on the guernsey while we still can! He's been a great player and his leadership should inspire the young ones around him.

Off my Rant horse now relax WWT footy club
Colville i have the greatest respect for in the back line yes .As an on baller in 2008 I have my doubts
Luke jarrad is one of my favourite players no matter what I have written .But I can see his short comings .Perhaps he needs like many former Vic players to do the first thing with the BALL.And get that tackling back in his game .One reason why I thought of playing him in the centre to be the player that Macca was in the first two centre bounces last week .To break through the packs and get the ball to the tall forwards.

All I can hope is that the EAGLES run fast all day and take their aggression out on the ball. And find eagles players when kicking in the backline .
