More news from Oval Avenue.
Nathan Twomey has nicked off......too hard, lost interest. Our recruiting this year must have created a record for the number of recruits who have nicked off before reaching mid-season.
Maybe soon the Eagles might announce a BIG BIG signing.

hopefully we have a new coach next year as well. think we need a new face at the club. Ron has done well but in my opinon we need a new face.
We're in hell right now gentlemen. Believe me. And we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell... one inch at a time.

Gee, I hope it's not too soon for McKenzie. He is now one of the top 10 players in the League and arguably the most versatile and we could ill afford to lose him for another x amount of weeks due to being back quicker than he should.

Twomey is no loss - especially seeing we have so many tall forwards that we're playing Schwarze in the back pocket and Hentschel at Full Back. Can't do much about the recruiting now and I think we have a league squad good enough.

McKenzie being back covers any losses we have for this game. I don't think there are any players in the league better than McKenzie - he is up there with Backwell, Thomas, Schell and Clayton as the cream of the crop.

Geddes, if he can get some intensity in to his game, could be a good player. Giuffreda I thought played well in his only league game and was unlucky to be dropped. He can do a silencing job on one of the Norwood forwards - maybe Aish? Don't know anything about Daniel?

From the named side, I'd be pushing Hentschel up to a floating forward pocket, McEntee to Full Back, Schwarze to CHB and Rimington to the bench to be a rotating midfielder. I'd also like to see Petrenko shifted further up the ground. It is a waste of a good player who has unique talents to have him play in the back pocket all game. Hopefully the coaching staff don't decide their only move for the day is to shift the Full Forward who has already kicked 6 goals by early in the 3rd quarter out to a forward flank....

If Geddes can get a bit of sh!t in him & also do some weights & work on his pace, he can hold down a fwd position, he has very good hands & kick.

Is that just a hope, or a fact? Two years in a row, and the only player that has really been worth it has been Schwarze. By that I mean recruiting "big name" players from other clubs or interstate. For example, you see North pick up Archard and Clarke. You see Sturt pick up McGlone and Perrie. You see Central pick up Slattery and Callinan. Compare that to what we have over the two years? Maybe I'm being a bit over ambitious here after some of the Leagues best players were recruited in 2002 and 2003 (Inkster, Treeby, McKenzie -who came back to play here in 2004 after originally being mini-drafted in 2002, Powell); followed by the top up players after 2005 (such as Cooper, Dabrowski and Grocke). But over the past two years we have seen what appears to be the "left over" recruits only. In no way do I like to offend anyone, but I can only go by what I have seen and heard from the difference between the players that get recruited (and performance) by every club, and that to me is what it seems to be.

The Ferret is usually correct with his information and this is a big recruit..........as in big in size. Will be an option in 2009 as too late for this season to make an impact.
Recruiting poor in past 2 years. Up till then, with the exclusion of Toia, we have picked up some quality, long term club men as mentioned by Spelly.
Our onball division is in need of major surgery, there had better be some announcements in this regard for 2009 or we be mediocre again.
Luck is where opportunity meets preparation
