With people complaining about no Red jumper getting around during this dream team debacle in the AFL, it could be the perfect time for that old passion to come out in a lot of people, i just can't say i've seen any promotion for it.....help yourselves out SANFL!

It's been promoted through jnr footy clubs, looks like their will be a few from Lockleys there, some that don't normally or rarely attend SANFL games.

Re promotion already

To be fair the SANFL have been focussing on the rivalry round and there is no doubting the success they had with it.

Next project is the state game

This week we have seen on the web site some of the upcoming promotion involved.

I like the focus on the state jumper, picks up on the emotions felt from the Vicfest exhibition last Saturday.

Most pleasing was SANFL club season ticket holders being admitted for just $5 (would have liked it to be part of the ticket, BUT its a start).

There is a PHILOSOPHY article about the game coming up shortly.

Politically said well Phil. Why do the SANFL think that promoting the game online will bring the crowds in ? Surely they know this is not their demographic. FFS WHEN WILL THE SANFL promote their product to suit their audience . TV ( its a start)& papers are surely the way to go. I dont know how many times I have said this but why dont they take out a 2 page spread promoting each game in the Saturdays paper ? How hard is this ? A lot of people make their mind up if they are going to the footy on Saturday so bloody well promote it . Most Saturdays papers that I read have nothing in there at all. Now is an opportune time to capture the interests of those " disillusioned " AFL fans who want to see real footy . What those people are talking about is non clinical footy , more one on one , bumps and a bit of rough stuff . That is what we have !! FFS WAKE UP and GET behind YOUR COMPETITION SANFL THAT HAS YOU WHER YOU ARE !! Geez they P... me o.. at times , too bloody conservative.

Great move.
Even better if they offer something similar to AFL season ticket holders - eg $6!

I seem to recall they once allowed AFL season ticket holders in for free (maybe that was the Port Melbourne game) and we all kicked up a stink as they were effectively rewarding people who don't follow it closely, but punishing those that do...

A "bring a mate" type of promotion would be the best. eg SANFL club members who bring a non-club member get half-price entry and their mate gets a free ticket to the following week's SANFL...

As for being politically correct OCT, I guess I have some empathy for what the SANFL staff do with the resources allocated.

When the mid-season break was first held by the AFL I was critical that the SANFL failed to make the most of the opportunity, however in recent years, each time the AFL has had a break the SANFL has strengthened its promotion of the occassion.

The biggest issue for mine is that this is the last state game we will see in SA until 2012.(2009 @ WA, 2010 no game, 2011 @ Vic).

Personally I would love to see a 3 game round robin series played between SANFL, WAFL & VFL.
Each state plays 1 game home & 1 away with a two week break between each game, each year a champion league is crowned.

Of course its more expense, one more bye and thus a very interuppted mid season for the clubs (which is probably why it will never happen). Then again if the amatuer leagues can do it why not state leagues.

If a home state game becomes an annual event it can become something to promote on a regular basis, twice every six years is just too rare.

My thinking rarely is in tune with others - thankfully...

But I think you misunderstood; your mate pays for the state game but gets the next week of SANFL for free.

And obviously you don't bring a mate who goes to the SANFL every week. That'd be like taking the pope to church...

Why isn't there a state game in 2010 - is it because only 3 states play so each year one state has a "bye"?

Correct. Maybe that's when we SHOULD play a team from the NT.

The WAFL plays Queensland in their 'bye'. I think we should play Tasmania - 'revenge' for 1995? ;)

Not so sure, Rudolph vs Chambo is always an absorbing battle with honours about even over the past two seasons. He is capable of responding to a challenge and I'd put him in ahead of Zorzi, although he also did well against Sturt earlier in the year.

Well I'll definatley be there, will be helping with the banner during the week and holding it up on the day for the lads to run through...

At Alberton yesterday, I told my folks and their 2 friends who go to most Centrals games, to come along and support the SA boys against the hated Vics and hopefully if my parents go, the 2 younger brothers, a couple of their mates and my finace will come along for the ride as well.

At this stage, I'm hoping to add 8 - 10, including myself, to the crowd tally on Saturday arvo...

GO U CROWEATERS...

I'll probably go along on Saturday, if I've got nothing better to do (the half price entry will help).

The $5 entry also applies for Crows/Power season ticketholders - so hopefully I can use our 2 season tickets to drag along a couple of mates (of course I'll be using my Centrals season ticket for myself).
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10
