Their first year in the SANFL was 2000 Tassie, 8 years of unbeliavble, irreplacable service to our great great club...

P.S - Just in case anyone didn't realise, we just pipped South Adelaide for their signature which I'm sure some Southee Fans out there would be ruing, wishing they had their record with the blue and white jumper of the Panthers... ??

I heard a whisper the boys were told that Noarlunga was a metro / city cosmopolitan hub and of course, no disrespect to the Southern Suburbs at all, but I think after they had a look for themselves, they thought it was no where near what they were told it would be. Now of course the argument, justifiably, will come thick and fast that the Northern Suburbs and Elizabeth in particular has it's own stigma attached to it so why would they chose Centrals in the end over South ? Well, I'm not 100% sure but I think it had something to do with the connection of Michael Wakelin (former Doggies star) and his brothers (Shane and Darryl) who were at St. Kilda at the same time as C & J.Gowans were. Also there may have been a link with the Central / St.Kilda connection of premiership skipper Daniel Healy.

Thank god it eventuated that way, I say, cause no doubt, I would be amongst the opposition supporters who would curse and hate the Gowans boys if they played for someone other than the Dogs. Ahh, pinch me, I'm having a nightmare, that would never happen, I can't comprehend not having the twins playing for us, just wouldn't be the same. They are so amazing and have done wonders for the club and the SANFL and I assure you they will forever be remembered and will always be two irreplacable blokes in what is surely their last year in the SANFL (once again, as previous years gone by, I'm happy to be proven wrong!!?)

I've heard from a few sources that the Daniel Healy connection was their reason for coming here and would only have ever been where Danny was.

Hey Constance,

Thanks for backing me up there mate, I knew it was mainly the Healy connection...

Also, thanks for your PM the other day as well, I try to be a funny bugger when I can !!??

I might actually wander down to Coopers Stadium Friday night for your clash with the Maggies...

I only live down the road from the ground and my mate, poor fella, is a Redlegs fan !!??

Anyway, I'll let you know for sure when it gets closer if I'm going or not and will have to try and catch up to introduce myself and have a beer mate, hopefully watch your mob have a win !!??

Yep, that's it. Les Stevens had them wrapped up (i.e. contacts signed) before any other club had even spoken to them.

Wouldn't have mattered if they had signed with South they would have left after the 1st season anyway like most of south's other "gun recruits" :D

On Crows or Power list:
Rhett Biglands (1996)
Brett Burton (1998)
Robert Shirley (1999)

Also, you have Matthew Pavlich and Matthew Whelan who played in 1999 as well.

spelly, i did say 'in your club' & while if dropped they play for you they're not really 'in your club' & pavlich & whelan even if dropped  wouldn't be playing for wwt

what i mean is on your sanfl list that was playing in the 1990's not afl listed players that have moved on

Just a bit of trivia. ;)

But a player who hasn't played a senior match this year but still could, can count?

Oh Dutchy...

You silly, silly man. What kind of comment is that mate, do I sense a hint of jealousy there Dutchy ???

Trust me mate, you'd have a love affair with them as well if they did for your club what they have done for Centrals (and the SANFL)...

I'm not gonna start a slinging match with you over it, I've got better things to do but I think my comment above says it all...
