This is a particularly sad and tragic event.
The lad & his family would have been on top of the world after him kicking 5 on Sat afternoon to lead the South U/19's to their first win of the season. He would have gone out Saturday night in high spirits with his mates to enjoy themselves, and this happens.
The footy club, his team mates and some of his friends will eventually get over it after a few years. One thing is definitely sure; his parents and family never will. Not ever.

Without being too prejudicial,Let us all hope that for once the full force of our insipid legal system will deliver an appropriate verdict and sentence.

Sincere condolences to the Davis family.

Another senseless tragedy. Sad news and condolences of course to the family and everyone involved with the club.

Thoughts with the family......

Words dont express how angry that article makes me, especially reading about being out on bail... :(

Agreed, almost happened to Matty Wright late last year too.
Lock these little bastards up after their first infringement so they can't go and do something like this, lock the parents up too while you're at it.

I offer my condolences to the family and friends and SAFC; this really is sad that a young life has been cut short by scum.

Geez that's a terrible tragedy, makes me sick in the stomach especially when he was trying to be the peace-keeper

FFS compared to a life I bet the fight was over something so stupidly minor in importance

There are 2 guys at work who have been king hit while out - thankfully it was just broken bones in the face and their heads didn't smash into concrete - but what's going on?????

My condolences to his family, friends and the footy club

Terrible news...deepest condolences and sympathy to his family and friends

If what scoop says about him trying to stop a fight is correct, and I don't doubt it, then it shows what an unjust world this is when the one who tries to do the right thing is the one who pays the ultimate price.

From what the Tiser says it shows that curfews don't work...build more prisons (everywhere) and give more custodial sentances

So very sad, these young lads going out and getting into punch up must be liable for their actions.
My thoughts go out to his family and the SAFC. I hope his team get behind him this week and have a big win in his memory.

Fortunately/Unfortunately (however you want to look at it) South have the bye this week. South's juniors next game will be at Glenelg oval Saturday week - will be a special day for his team mates.

Sincere condolences to the lads family & friends, and the SAFC. A senseless tragedy . I believe he was an only child too. I feel sick for his parents.
As the father of an 18 year old son, let me tell you that you worry every time they go out & don't sleep soundly until you hear them come home safe.
This lads parents are living many parents worst fears.
as someone already said, I bet it was a fight over something stupid & now some are left to live with regret.

From what I read on another site, there were a couple of clubs, including the Power, that were very keen on him and had already had talks with him.

Its terrible that things like this happen. Would have been on top of the world Saturday arvo and it all gets taken away by some ******* idiot on bail king hits him from behind. What a gutless ****.

RIP Sam!

Totally agree something has to been done to these people who believe belting another person in the head is socially acceptable.
The soccer club i play for Elizabeth Grove was the victim of gate crashers at last years presentation fortunatly for us the worst injury sustained by one of our club person was a broken jaw and an injuced coma which they sucessfully come out of and there was no death. Incidents like Sam Davis show what can happen when people get violent.
I'm hope the culprits in this latest incident get life in jail and cop the biggest meanest in-mates deleted
