As was the case with Nathan Brown's broken leg at Richmond, the bloody media keep replaying these severe injuries over and over about 5 times in 30 seconds. Poor Logan Hill, that was pretty bad wasn't it. It was amazing that there wasn't much reaction on his face immediatley after the break, it probably wasn't until he looked down and saw it for himself that the pain seemed to kick in and the realisation he was in trouble would have settled in.

Although not eventuating from the same type of circumstances, Logan Hill's broken leg was similar to the one seen recently in the English Premier League. For those that didn't see it or forgot (i'm sure there is footage on the net somewhere) but Birmingham City's James McFadden ran in for a diving two foot tackle on Arsenal's Eduardo leg, breaking it clean in two places !!!
Ouch !!! Hopefulyl, young Logan will not be out of the game for too long, good luck to him in his recovery from this horriffic injury.

A few other severe footy injuries, not neccesarily just in the SANFL that come to mind include Trent Hentschel's knee injury in a Showdown that doctors said resembled a massive car crash victim's injuries. Then there was James Hird absolutely smashing his face to pieces on Mark McVeigh's knee over in WA, Danny Morton's back neck injury playing for the Power a few years ago, that tragic incident that saw Neil Sachse become a quadriplegic, the list could go on...

Big Phil...

Also i think it was white who got kicked in the face by king. It didnt get much media i dont think but they also said that his injury resembled a car accident when the person hits there face on the steering wheel. broke clean across just below his nose..... apparently you could hear the crack up in the stands.....

cam roberts was bad due to the shock he went into and the way he held it made it visually so much worse

That one with Cam Roberts was a few years ago at Adelaide Oval wasn't it ? I think it was against Centrals as well ? His was a broken leg as well wasn't it Blues08 ???

Big Phil...

Na i dont think he broke his leg they had to carry him off cos his legs wouldnt work due to shock. It may have been against cetrals as it was finals time and at adelaide oval. he backed back into a sturt and opponant and he jumped and they sort of flicked his legs out he put his arm back to break is fall and snapped his forearm and dislocated his wrist. he never played for sturt again i dont think. the sturt doctor had to manipulate his arm to so it was stable enough to move him as it was just sort of hanging(gross i know).... this memory has stuck with me and will probably

Hey Blues08,

That's right mate, it was a broken arm, i do remember that now...

Reckon they showed it few times over on the news and i think Channel 9 might have gone to his house during his recovery to interview him, seeing how he was coming along.

I remember it was pretty horiffic and looked a thousand times worse on each of the 50 replays shown !!

Unfortunatly it happens at times and can be horrible, but addictive to watch in replay.

I noticed this too, people have noted that the shock hadn't set in which is definitely true. But still, his reaction was as though he had cramp which Neil Cross said. He didn't look in any real pain at all, until it must have hit home.

Reckon Cam Roberts may have been against the Eagles.

Mark Ducker broke his leg pretty badly for Norwood in the early 90's. Didn't see it, but pretty nasty by all accounts.

Slightly different type of injury, but Simpson from Westies reportedly having convulsion in the change rooms at half time of 91 GF

Now I've seen ALOT of injuries over the years... so I guess my tolerance to what is gross is going to be different to what other people see as grose..

SANFL - I actually reckon Richard Champion is one of the worst I've seen first hand.

AFL - Everyone goes on about James Hird and Nathan Brown and I can watch those with no problem at all. Even Robrans and Modra's legs I can watch. The only one I cant watch to this day is SOS being flattened by Milburn. It sickens me.

SAAFL/Wimmera League - Too many to mention.. but a boot to one of my players heads which resulted in him lying on the ground, waiting for an ambulance with his skull showing was pretty bad, or the Eastern Park thug who lined up one of our blokes in front of our scoreboard a few years back resulting in a broken fib and tib and a dislocated ankle. He finally made a comeback to football at the beginning of last year only to do an ACL in round 2. Happy man!

I can still remember hearing Damon White's ankle (or lower leg) break at Prospect, just thinking about it still makes me cringe.

Seeing the bone sticking out of Peter Marker's sock at Norwood Oval was pretty horrific.

He did play again for Sturt, but only the one match the following year.

I was at all three matches involving Roberts, Eichner and Hill, but didn't actually know what exactly happened until after. I haven't even seen the Hill incident either; when I noticed he was on the ground, I thought he had been knocked out or something.

Was at the game at MCG (1996?) when Joel Smith did his knee playing for St. Kilda vs Collingwood. Was another one which they kept replaying on the big screen ad "nausea"....

I know the thread was based on SANFL, but had to throw it in...

My first game as a trainer at the Bay was rd 1 1990 an U/17s game

First quarter of the year ~1 min mark one of our young kids has gone into a pack in front of the Glenelg oval scorebaoard and what sounded like a rifle shot rang out over the oval....

Brad Smiths older brother (Ryan IIRC) had broken his right tibia and fibula mid shaft and the lower part of his calf was just hanging. The poor bastard was in agony from the crepitous (fractured bone ends rubbing together) as we carefully put him on the stretcher....

First one was my worst one...
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

The worst I have witnessed first hand was Stephen Barratt's. I went to school with Bazz so it hit hard. The worst I have come across was Greg Edwards' losing an eye.

Not worst as in most disgusting looking but one of the worst in the way of devastation was Josh Coulter's broken jaw in the last minor game of the year against Port from Craig Parrys punch in the mid 2000's.
Probably cost him a premiership as he had played in every game until that stage and Central won the premiership once again, he was definatly in the clubs finals plans.
He went 'off the rails' a bit more from the next year on and lost a huge amount of confindence, a huge one of those what if situations. But it was a disastrous injury for his career.
