Now that is, I don't mean to say that there is no hope, but if Collins is going to keep on persisting with the flood/extra three players in the backline, well it will be just like 2005 again. Being on the defensive was when the score went from 4 goals to 2, to 4 goals to 11.

I'm glad somone else asks the same questions I asked last week....West have a gameplan which requires sooo much intensity it is nigh on impossile to keep it up for four full quarters

russell ebert was talking about this tactic this morning (at afl level) & paraphrasing he said 'it is dissapearing from the game as it is too hard & taxing on the players' & west try to do it at sanfl level

Four full quarters!! It seemed to fall apart after about 4minutes Tasie Medalist.
I am not sure what was worse last weeks handball game from norwood or Wests defensive game. :?

I heard him say that when I was going to the game.
If west just kept attacking the EAGLES may have been in trouble IMHO.

For most of the 2nd quarter the ball was at the Northern end of the ground. The flood as it became famous in the 90s, was designed with the SCG in mind, for Plugger. Richmond Oval is a lot longer than the SCG.

Which was the end the Eagles were kicking to .
I think once dobber and Roberts worked out Moran and the other ruckman west fast movement of the ball forward stopped dead in its tracks.
Plus the rain didn't do wests game any good either.
The flood should have stayed in the 90'sIMHO>

That was a very, very bad break for young Hill. Looked awful. Couldn't believe his initial reaction, just seemed to hold his leg and didn't kick up much of a fuss. It was when he was on the stretcher when it all got to him. Nasty injury, looked a lot like NG Brown. His lower leg/ankle was bent in a direction it shouldn't be. Poor lad, 12 months out and a long, hard struggle but I hope he makes it.

It's the stun factor. Funny you should mention Nathan Brown because it was very similar. He was so stunned by the whole incident he didn't feel the pain. If you recall, he was laying back on the stretcher like he was lounging on a beach in the West Indies. Hill went down and knew he was injured but the pain took a few moments to kick in.

Maybe they should have had one that said 'Just F'n Win'.

Also they should stay away from wooden poles, we Eagles did long ago.

Sounds like the league team 4.4 in the first term and 2 out on the full .Let alone the kicks that missed from 5 metres out !!!.

here lies the problem not thick enough posts for the size of the banner. I didn't make it but i wouldn't have used those size posts.

I was at the game with the kids from Lockleys FC for the mini-league and for the first 10 minutes I was surprised by the way West played. When we came back out after getting the kids ready, it was back to old ways for West. I was also surprised by the small crowd, after the game had been heavily promoted all week as an historic match. I suppose it just shows what happens when the game is both on ABC and against a live coverage of a Crows game. The other surprise for me was seeing my an old workmate of mine, James McEntee lining up at full-back for the Eagles instead of the forward line were he used to plat most of his footy.

You don't think the weather had anything to do with the small crowd giffo.
I thought the EAGLES may have out numbered the bloods fans .
Did you enjoy Westies playing the centrals song at the start of the game?

I wasn't surprised with the number of fans on Saturday. What I was surprised with is that there wasn't even half the crowd on Friday at Adelaide than I expected. Even with the weather forecast, I would have thought there would be 6000 at least. And no one likes to mention when we do at least have as many of the opposition fans, even more than, do they?

Given the weather forecast, was the ABC game and against Crows game and that 1662 hardy souls was 300 up on same game last year reckon the crowd was OK.

A lot of SAAFL clubs also played on ANZAC Day this year to give their players a weekend off so I that may have affected numbers. It stopped me going this year (first time in 8 years) as I was helping out behind the bar at Lockleys all day.
