Sunday Mail get it right!!

All discussions to do with the SANFL

It's not a minor issue, its a sign of a MAJOR PROBLEM!
Back in 2004 the Sunday Mail used to dedicate 2 pages reporting each week on SANFL games.
Based on recent weeks they have cut the coverage by 50% to just one page.
We are now getting
- No Friday Game wraps
- No Friday Game statistics
- NO SUNDAY GAME PREVIEWS, It's like the games that day just dont exist.
- No SANFL feature stories
They have a new Sports Editor Tim Hilferty from interstate who has probably never been to an SANFL game. Heaven help the SANFL if he thinks it only deserves the coverage the VFL gets in Melbourne.
Minor errors happen & I am not having a shot at the writers at the Sunday Mail but the editorial decision to allocate just one page each week to the SANFL is a major reduction in coverage and should not be accepted quietly.

WHAT CAN YOU DO???
Well he does a weekly blog on this site
http://blogs.news.com.au/adelaidenow/sundaymail/index.php/adelaidenow/comments/playing_to_lose
Take the time to post your thoughts anytime, he is also blogging live Tuesday between 2pm & 3pm.

Every week there are scores that are wrong in the other grades. It's not new either, it's being going on even since the 50s.

Example:

Under 19s:
North 14.16 (98) - try 14.14 (98)

Under 17s:
West 3.9 (87) - perhaps 13.9 (87)

Same goes for Country scores:
Woomera and Districts has Coober Pedy on 1.3 (8) - possibly 1.3 (9) or 1.2 (8)? Yorke Peninsula, CMS Crows on 17.7 (115), umm, 18.7 (115)? North Eastern, Eudunda 8.8 (72)??? South Clare have the best players and goalkickers from both teams, too.

If all of these scores are correct in the Sunday Mail, it probably means someone on here proofread it.

Well there was some improvement this week
- about 1.75 pages of match reports on the SANFL, up from only 1 page last week
- a preview of the Glenelg v Central game, first time they have done a preview of a Sunday match.
Let's see what they do with no Crows or Power next week.

If all of the scores that appear in the Sunday Mail on any given week have no errors in them, it must mean that one of us on here has been given the editing job for the Sunday Mail for that week. Someone who cares about their job and not someone who just does it because they are plucked from interstate who couldn't give a rats toss bag about SA Footy.

Edit: I noticed that the Under 19s error has just been copied and pasted in the Advertiser today - the score should be 14.16 (100) and the 17s score is now 3.9 (27)

A two page spread from four past Crows and Power players - a where are they now kind of thing and one token SANFL player.
A two page spread on State of Origin footy
A two page spread on the tribute match
1.8 pages of SANFL ;)

As per page 52 of today's Sunday Mail, Ben Hook seems to still want to refer to this site as "FootySA"
