Funny my fellow work mates think the same .
As i work fulltime ie 40hrs a week get paid for 38 etc etc. Then pay me a wage that excludes me qualifying for a HCC.Seeing without one I would be paying around $200 plus a fortnight for medications to keep me alive so i can go to work to earn money to buy medications .Well you get the picture

While Sturt's sounds expensive, their m/ships include a grandstand seat (whereas Centrals, while $30 cheaper, does not include a grandstand seat).

Having said that, I paid $291 for my Crows season ticket and got half the stuff I got with my Centrals season ticket.
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

About 3 weeks ago I looked at club membership renewals
Got results from 8 clubs from web sites & their communications

(NB - Couldn't find a figure for Central. Glenelg & South are probably the most outdated)

2006 & 2007 are SANFL official figures as provided Feb 2008.

Here is what I came up with

Eagles
2006 - 2051
2007 - 2139 (+4%)
2008 - 1220 (57% renew)

Glenelg
2006 - 1714
2007 - 1942 (+13%)
2008 - 440 (23% renew)

North
2006 - 2664
2007 - 2329 (-13%)
2008 - 1154 (50% renew)

Norwood
2006 - 2334
2007 - 1868 (-20%)
2008 - 1543 (83% renew)

Port
2006 - 3143
2007 - 2597 (-17%)
2008 - 1886 (73% renew)

South
2006 - 1057
2007 - 1562 (+48%)
2007 - 524 ( 34% renew)

Sturt
2006 - 2030
2007 - 1996 (-2%)
2008 - 1400 ( 70% renew)

West
2006 - 1081
2007 - 1185 (+10%)
2008 - 910 (77% renew)

Central
2006 - 2940
2007 - 2305 (-22%)
2008 - not av

* NB - As mentioned 2008 figures were collected 3 weeks ago and those communications may have been dated as well. Traditionally a large portion of membership comes in the 6 week period starting 3 weeks before the season & ending about Rd 3.

IMO, I am nuts if I don't get membership. I'd go to 18 games per year to watch the Bays
so if I paid at the gate it'd cost me $162. I am in front by $30 already...

Great value IMO, and ALL the clubs should be congratulated on keeping the costs down...

$165 but let's not quibble - that is pretty expensive in light of what other club members pay I guess. I presume it might be because of the high home match day costs of transforming a community park into an SANFL-standard facility (yes, go on, insert jokes about pooper-scoopers here...)

You must be concession and got the extremely generous discount of $5.00

They are the figures still listed on the clubs we site, and haven't changed for weeks, I suspect there would be guite a few more than that signed up. Out if those 1154, 80 are new (as opposed to renewed) memberships, which is a positive sign.

I'm a Redlegs Plus Member and for $250 this is what I get:

General Membership Entitlements
2 All Ground Passes

Best Value Package in the SANFL, here's the Maths;

Pre Match Function ($50 per ticket) $200

Adds up to $440 and it costs $250, lets hear if another club can beat that!

Need to be careful - are we comparing apples with apples?

For example with our pitch to getting more junior members our juniors is only $11 but if a household has 2 adult members or adult concessions then get a free junior membership to give to a youngster.
Also applies if 2 home match or 2 season ticket packages bought.

All clubs look to provide members with value.

I believe we provide fantastic value for Eagles fans and have the most generous concession prices in the league. (Concession season ticket with membership just $60)

Members Night last night was a great success with many renewing their memberships - even had to stoke up the Barbie twice as we ran out of cooked food at one stage - great to have such a large attendance last night.

Port are now up to 2056.
They are now giving all new members a free beanie or scarf but that offer runs out today

Given that Port sit at or near the top of the membership tree, that's a pretty impressive renewal rate. Someone at Alberton should be well pleased with themselves.

Why don't AAMI Stadium Ultimate/Category 1 memberships include a $50 (plucking a figure there - seems in line with most SANFL clubs base membership package) surcharge or component, which gets redirected to the SANFL club of choice, making the individual a member of both an AFL and SANFL club?

A similar setup could maybe work in with straight Power and Crows memberships?

SANFL clubs combined member numbers are around 20,000, yet the Crows + Power combined is around 70,000+ ... Thats 50,000 avowed football lovers not transferring back to the SANFL.

The obvious benefits for the SANFL clubs are the additional direct revenue via increased membership, but over time how many people might return to the local football, some of which might discover (or re-discover) a passion for it?

I'd imagine the dividend returned to SANFL clubs could have a major part in why something like this isn't in place?

And if you are a CAT 1 member and you are a North Adelaide member you still get the $50.00 charge. How about we slug all members of SANFL clubs a 100.00 surcharge to keep footy park running?

He's saying the surcharge would make you a North Adelaide member so you'd in fact be saving money. (unless you wanted to be a member twice).

AHHHHHHHHH so it does Wedgie  I still dont think forcing anything on anyone will be of any use to anyone honestly . What would people think of the idea of SANFL club members being hit with a charge going to a "suburban "or country club in the zone of the SANFL club when you really could not give a rats arse about that club?

Good point but the different point is that overcharging AFL supporters for SANFL clubs gain can only be a good thing, the Footy Park members already pay about $100 too much, another $50 wont hurt and that'll be what they deserve following one of two crap sides.

Just a suggestion mate ... Would love to find a way to tap into those 50,000+ AFL members that aren't coming through at SANFL level is all.

At Centrals a health care card doesn't count as a concession not sure at Westies though.

You'd think if there was to be 1 club in the league that would accept hcc as concession it would be CDFC. Aren't half of their supporter base recipients of some sort of centrelink payment.
