Don't devalue the use of the word champion.

Robran, Head and Aish were champions, Joe Pedler was not.

The alternate view Mickj is that if you can't accept feedback from others about your players, the thread should be on your club forum, not SAFooty.

But of course players within a club can become champions of your club, without becoming champions of SANFL. Makes sense to me.

Peds is a champion person. He was instrumental behind the Eagles becoming a big sponsor of Ronald McDonald House. To me that makes him a champion. Will not comment on whether his playing ability needs that tag too.
Cheers

Sad to see Peds go but not entirely unexpected- not the quickest of players and not getting any quicker. Courage, discipline, commitment and a touch of flair cannot be questioned. The heart and soul of the team, being a chief motivator, respected leader and confidant to the younger players. An integral part of the team and his experience wil sorely be missed.
As for the snipers comments from a few Gnawwood barrackers, he's the sort of clubman you've been sorely missing for years.

Will miss the champion bloke that is star premiership player, Joe Pedler around the club. Many Sensational games for the eagles, after being promoted from ethelton's junior grades. Was great for the younger players, often took on a gowans which invariably meant taking on both. Who could forget his somersault on the way to collecting his premiership medallion, his goal scoring, or his cowboy outfits. Gave last years farmer medallist many a bath, and off field work of the highest quality in supporting the WCH.

Cheers to Joey, thanks for the memories!!.
