Apparantly its just a trial and according to sources, the result won't mean very much. Rumour has it that the dogs will be bringing their test tubes and bunson burners while wearing white coats. Oh I forgot to mention the game will be played in a lab. Beware, HAZCHEM!

Sturt however, are playing their gf side and will win at all costs, hence bringing their odds in even more.

Lol!
I guess the result will be published in some journal, pending verification from a reputable institution?
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Just got back it finished about 20 minutes ago

Centrals 6.8 44
Sturt 11.7 73

Played in very trying conditions and there was a bit of niggle out there. As all trial games both sides did a fair bit of experimenting with there sides.

I must also add that I rekon Mitchell Farmer will be a star !!!

It is the first time I have seen a young lad that has come over from interstate who has been drafted by either of the local AFL teams and looks ready to play @ SANFL league level straight away.

Cubillo was injured as well (It is either ankle or knee ) in a tackle put on by James Gowans - Spoke to an official who wouldnt go much further than saying that what ever it was they were hoping it is only a strain !!!

A trial it may be, but Sturt's defence has been miserly in both hitouts so far, against sides that have frequently piled on the goals in the past. A good sign.

I wouldn't read much into a win against Centrals this time of the year, when was the last time they had a good start?

I did actually think whilst watching today that Centrals can be slow starters and they did actually look slower off the mark - but I took 2 big positives out of today !!!

Firstly our kids like Avery , Fittock , Thring , Sharples , Wark and previously mentioned Farmer were excellent against bigger body players today and I took that as our biggest positive. All those lads played most of the day.

Secondly was our forward line for about half of the game had Chambo sitting on the pine and only Gum who I would consider a certain starter in the six up there and we were still kicking goals. I rekon the six were Fitzgerald , Johncock , Sharples , Hurze , Thring and Gum.

I thought it was 11.7 to 7.7 half way through the last quarter when Giles kicked a goal for the 'Dogs (the point at which I left). Watching in that heat was difficult, and the cold water had been turned off in the Sturt change rooms

Hey Guys,

I know we lost the game, nothing to worry about with quality guys to come into the team. Can anyone that was at the game give a quick mention of best players, injuries etc etc... How did the new recruits and young guys from the 2's go ?

Cheers,

Big Phil... :D :D :D

Agreed Blue Boy.

Respect to all players out in those conditions today. I only stayed until half time.

From what I saw for the dogs. Schell Sibenaler Slade Slattery Switala Hayes and Gowans boys up to high usual standard. Gowans boys up to usual undiscplined acts in trial match standards.

Off the young guys Ryan Williams looked to be the big improver provided alot of run and some excellent second efforts. Jonathon Giles has gained alot of size and looks alot more capable with his around the ground work. Matthew Westhoff certainly showed he will be able to play league football as a key forward this year if required.
Centrals 16.11 107 North 5.12 42 the dynasty continues .

I like the way the scores ended up, but we aren't doing too well with injuries in these trials. We have had Herring and Nelson cop something against the Eagles, and now Cubillo against the Dogs. Don't want to go too hard at it early.
Anyone know who lined up for both sides, I want to get stuck into the mandatory "we had more league regulars watching in the stands than your side did" debate. Trials have a culture all of their own eh?

He likes playing footy.

Also has more spare time now compared to last year, enabling him to make a comeback.
