He gets my vote, if I believe what I'm told he hasn't missed a Glenelg league match since Rd 1 1973....Is that correct mate??

If he isn't the most passionate one going around, he's certainly in the top 3.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Glenelg's would have to be Fitzy, always around the club every day of year, does the stats and cleans out the beer lines- normally into a glass to taste for quality after.

Passion is everywhere- seen and unseen.
Anyone who follows the "little league" (SANFL) and spends the off season hanging out here in mulling over past history and dreaming of future glory is passionate - especially those who cant get to a game too often because they live in remote areas, or live interstate or overseas.

I have to say Super Sid was passionate though. Followed many clubs (not sure if he is still alive?). Neil Kerley coached 4 clubs (was it? - West, Central, South, Glenelg?) - that's passion too. There is no hard and fast criteria for this sort of thing - you have it or you dont.

SP - I admire your passion but , with no disrespect to Wedgie, I think you set the wrong scene with this post with just a couple of lines for openers and nominating Wedgie at the top of your 2 man list. I guess Wedgie was happy he was ahead of "someone" tho.

I would have to add to my previous post that it is impossible to compare supporters even within the same club. For example how could anyone say that the guy who gave that $50k anonymous donation to Sturt last year is any more or less passionate about the club than, say, another supporter who is maybe on an old age pension, scrimps and saves all year and goes without things most of us take for granted so they can afford their club membership. Pure and simple...you can't.

I concur that Wedgie is an inspiration with what he does for the SANFL and for North. I also would say that people like JTC, JAS and Jimmy who get up in the middle of the night to listen on the internet to their SANFL team show a huge amount of passion as well. As for Bayman, well 36 years of going without missing says it all! Well done!

I would suggest this sort of devotion would make a good story for the upcoming SANFL Media Guide....

LMAO!

I'm the same, which means I've really enjoyed the past couple of years. Perverse.

Rarely go to any games up here in Sydney - mainly because I hate the atmosphere at the AFL. As you all know, with a one-team town it's pretty much a one-way street. Boring. It's sadly missing the banter that flies thick and fast between opposition SANFL supporters on the terraces.

These days, for my local footy fix, I go to see the Newtown Jets at Henson Park in the Premier League...

A serious question why do both yourself and Wedgie enjoy years when the team is struggling is it the excitment of the unexpected wins that you love. Or the nerves of been the favourite and expectation to win that you hate.
I cant see how thats case but yeah im really interested in your opinions.

Good question and one Ive answered many times as most do find it confusing.
When your team is crap you go every week (well I do) expecting to lose, if you lose life goes on as you expected it, if you win you're on the biggest of highs as it was unexpected.
Throw into the equation that you also work out who are the real supporters and you gain more comradrie with those, of course the biggest bonus is you don't have to line up for a beer or to go to the loos. :D
Life as a supporter is too easy when your team wins more often than it loses. I enjoy hardships!
