My Norwood side:

F: Cockshell* Vlatko Borlace
HF: McDonnell Gibson Aish
C: Davis Culpitt Gallagher
HB: Lower* Bown Jackman
B: Nitschke Zorzi DeVries
1R: Doyle Campbell* Phillips
Int (from): Minson, Duigan, Gieschen, Alwan, Coombes, Donohue, McLean.

* Included as assumed will play most of season with NFC. Havent included Walker or Kite (both Crows) as dont know anything about them and being kids might not even be ready for SANFL league footy.
Have left out Bartemucci and Dawes as whilst 100+ games players its time to move on from blokes who cant play consistent quality league footy, tough call but if the club wants to break a 5 year non-finals drought change must happen. The kids in in Donohue, McLean, Brunoli, Puopolo, Littler have gone past them and deserve more opportunities.

I liked what Zorzi did the season he played in the middle rather than as a backman.

He didn't play there much ... Has excellent skills and goes well in the contest, but pace in the middle would be a concern.

If he were to play there I'd prefer to see it as a pinch-hitting type role.

Its good to have pacy midfielders, but what about the stoppages/re-starts in the centre? Who can win the footy while the ball is in dispute? I believe you need some hard bodies in the middle and Zorzi and Culpitt are one's that can feed the likes of Gallagher, Borlace, Phillips etc after the hard footy is won. Thats why my team has Culpy in the guts. But hey, I'm no coach.
Hopefully we have Campbell for most of the season as he is one that has both qualities.

Cockshell and Lower qualify for * purely because of their surnames.

For this exercise disregard any AFL listed players.

I'll start the ball rolling with a North side I threw together:

F: Wright Weatherley Younie
HF: Ladhams Alleway Motlop
C: Ryswyk Allan Clarke
HB: Ward Schubert Wintle
B: Cubillo McIntyre Ivens

1R:
O'Hara O'Brien Archard

I/C (from): Stribling, Sporn, Krieg, Coulter, Walker, J.Wundke, B.White, Martin, Pfeiffer, Delvins.

Not a bad side that.
Keep an eye on Cohen Thiele though - he'll be a bolter for a spot.

Central

F: D.Havelberg L.Cowan M.Slade
HF: C.O'Sullivan H.Lawry L.McCabe
C: E.Ware C.Gowans C.Faulkner
HB: P.Thomas D.Schell R.Cochrane
B: A.Hayes Y.Sibenaler A.Switala
R J.MacKenzie S.Dutschke I.Callinan
INT: L.Hadden T.Goodrem L.Spurr

Haven't Included- James Gowans who will miss first 3 games due to suspension

AFL Listed Players- Brad Symes
Justin Westoff
Jonathon Griffin
Jonathon Giles
Matthew Westoff
Stephen Moss
Danny Boyle

Plus the club will be announcing a couple of new recruits by the end of this month.
It's a very strong looking squad there will be a reliance on both Giles and Griffin but every line expect maybe the bench look really good.

What's up with this - no room for Salter (he's only rookie listed with power and will still play a big part in eagles 08 side)

Luke mcabe is currently training with the dogs. he is looking to return next year depending on how the body pulls up. at this stage in my opinion he is training the house down and looks very fit. what can you tell us about earl shaw syddog.

From Sydney's official website, by his coach.

He played in the ruck predominantly and that is his position so he is really stuck to the one area of the ground at the moment. He is competitive in that position, his ruck work is fine, but he certainly needs to improve his around the ground play, that is reading the play and getting into the right position to contest the footy as much as possible.

I'm personally outraged that there's a Sydney rookie who hasn't signed with Norwood. :D

Now we pretty much know the squad for the coming season, I'll have a go at the Eagles line up. Will include AFL rookie's (Salter and Petrenko) as I reckon we'll have them for most of the season (pending injury). I think we'll see some of McGregor and Hentschel, but won't include them as I doubt we'll see much of them if they play good footy. Also Vince I think will play more for the Crows than he will for us this year and Jacky is an unknown so will leave him out. Symmons I'll leave out as it looks like he won't be available for the start of the season.

FF: Salter Passador Biagi
HF: Petrenko Grocke Geddes
C: Jarrad Powell Treeby
HB: McKenzie Schwarze Colville
FB: P Stewart Hier P Fiacchi
R: Dabrowski Cicolella Fairclough

Plenty of depth on the interchange bench with J Stewart, Lee, R Fiacchi, Fitzgerald, Twomey, McEntee, Couch, Gogoll, Giuffreda, Klun, Pavlich, Pedler, Redden, Rimington and Rugolo.

Also hoping to see a few of the young players in Broadbent, Hicks, Staple and Davoren push for selection at some stage.

I see no reason, with a core group of Treeby, McKenzie, Powell, Cicolella and Jarrad, why we can't push for a high finish on the ladder this year.
