I agree CP, they obviously don't rate the last 2 in the mini-draft as players who can contribute to their club.

That doesn't necessarily follow, smac.

Dangerfield will play some games this year and is the highest rated draft pick, so to get him at number 10 is a very good pick-up.

Last year we got Robbie Gray at number 10.

There can also be other very good reasons why Westies picked him up.

I may have spoken in a bit of a riddle there mate...

I was saying that they reckon Dangerfield can contribute more to West than the other 2 players who were left at the time he was picked up - why they reckon this is anyone's guess.

I don't think he will be a bad pick up for next season. The season after even better.

Most of these picks are really for 2009 anyway. It's not often a player gets drafted and becomes a regular league player. Dangerfield not being here will probably just mean more stability for the kid and the club as he isn't jumping from one team to another each week, and playing with a different bunch of blokes to those he trains with.

A small crumbing forward is definitely something the Eagles need. Hopefully Jacky has the qualities to be good enough for league football this coming season. I hope the Lomas retirement rumour is false - or he's talked out of it. Just started to play some good footy last season and would be a shame to see him give up on it so young. Obviously had to go through a fair bit to get back to playing league football - I wonder if that is what is causing him problems now? Wouldn't have thought it "being too hard" for him would come in to it. Always one of the fittest. Maybe a work-life balance issue?

It may be that he went back to the doc and he doesn't like what he is seeing?

he will see more of yr 12 then west adelaide, this year at least.....

he will end up at geelong if any good with 4 yrs

It will be interesting to watch how the situation develops - I assume the Crows have considered the risks and have a plan in mind.

Myke Cook is an ex South Adelaide Junior, so good to see him return! Andy Ottens was an interesting first choice so will be interesting to see how he goes.

Westies did well to get Moran with their first pick, he will likely have to win a spot in the Crows side and will have to earn it by some BOF performances for Westies which wont hurt their attempt at a run up the ladder!

If he was a former junior, what was he doing in the mini draft? Sounds unusual.

True, his family moved over to Melbourne, so I am not sure at what age he played for the club?

Collins said part of West's job was to help develop AFL players and that they picked Moran even though they don't think he will play much for Westies.

Is this a load of rubbish to boost Moran's confidence? Are there any indirect benifits from developing players from the mini-draft or is Collins just a nice guy?

Will Dangerfield play a couple of games for Westies while the school holidays are on??

This will be amusing. Dangerfield the play a week in the SANFL during school holidays but West have a bye.
