I think North and Centrals fans make great atmosphere .Hate it on the day but you guys do .
Perhaps the fact that North don't have a huge amount of players in the crows team is a major reason.

Why not go the "your team every sat arvo" marketing line.We chop and change to fit in to the AFL draw and what has it gained? I would hardly say crowds are particularly great with the draw designed around the AFL draw so for one year take a punt and promote the "Sat arvo is your day for footy" line and see how it goes.

Oh come on! Anyone who believes that AvFL games don't impact on the SANFL or that the SANFL should keep Sat arvo's despite competition from the Crow's or Power, is kidding themselves.

Everyone knows that Sat Arvo is the best slot for footy but we have to get real about it. The AvFL have shown time and time again that they don't really give a sh1t about the SANFL and will do everything they can to maximise their own crowd pulling and revenue generating potential.

Let's just look at the options for those who are AvFL fans first and foremost, option 1) watch their team on the telly on Sat arvo, option 2) miss their team on the telly on sat arvo and go and watch SANFL. What is wrong with option 3, let them watch footy on telly ansd then come down to a game on Friday night or Sunday.

I know there are't too many fans of Sunday games but surely for the benefit of it's own well being, the SANFL can't afford to get into a fans war with the AvFL. All true SANFL fans will rock up for their team, be it Saturday or Sunday, but it's the stay at home fans and the AvFL fans who want to see a live game, that the SANFL has to win over.

Of course, this is just a personal opinion, and being an overseas poster, 5:00 am Saturday or 5:00 am Sunday, really doesn't matter to me.

Just to clarify - it's fixtures, not a draw.

A draw is random.

with you on this one, SANFL may well be suprised on the turnouts, unfortunately though it wont happen, looks like probably alot of Sunday footy coming up. Hopefully a few Friday night and even perhaps Sat night games at venues that can hold them

The bigest problem with any Sunday Footy is most Junior footy is played on Sundays.

These are the exact people the SANFL is trying to attract, young kids and families.

They will loose both if they have too many Sunday Games.

With Adel Oval out of action, night games will only be played at Coopers Stadium and Hamra Homes. Thebarton can be an option (have their lights been upgraded?)
Maybe some nuetral games at these venues next year.

No! Its a draw.
Eg for Anzac Day, 2 pieces of paper, one saying Collingwood and the other Essendon, are drawn out of a hat to see who plays on the MCG that day ;)

My point exactly actually JTC. The fixture as it is based around the AFL for years has done absolutely nothing for crowds at all just the same ol diehards week in week out .Are stay at home fans going to go to night games in winter against an AFL game ?..I seriously doubt it.I acknowedge the league would never have the guts to go all Saturday arvo games so it will be the same slightly older faces again next year.

With the way the fixture/draw pans out can you blame people for thinking its just a random concoction though?

There's more than just the AFL that the SANFL is competing with to get new fans to the games

Granted the AFL is the biggest competitor but there's plenty of other things on weekends for families and young people to do around town v heading off to a SANFL ground

The SANFL has to be attactive to people in its own right to get new supporters rather than soley trying to avoid AFL games and try to get the AFL crowd. Besides, if its not a Crows or Power game there's other AFL games on TV.

It's a big challenge .... RW is OTM the same group of SANFL die-hards get older and older each year and the next generation have to come on board.
In between signatures .....

I'm not sure about Port but Adelaide have a lot of Saturday afternoon games next year, including 4 at AAMI.

This can't be a good thing for SANFL crowd numbers. :?

How does Port's Saturday games have a major impact on the SANFL? How many people here besides Port supporters would abandon a home game to see Port Power at Footy Park?
It's all the SANFL's fault.

The rotational agreement dictates that after a years hiatus, the SANFL plays the VFL.

From the year the agreement was established...

2004 - WAFL vs. VFL
2005 - VFL vs. SANFL
2006 - SANFL vs. WAFL
2007 - VFL vs. WAFL
2008 - SANFL vs. VFL
2009 - WAFL vs. SANFL

The leagues play each other every three years... unless something has changed.
