As much as we may all dislike certain "away" trips around the league ... it is the very heart, soul and fabric of the game.
The AFL has lost so much since dismissing Princes Park, Windy Hill, Victoria Park etc ..
Admittedly, they had a greater need with bigger crowds needing bigger stadiums .. we do not have that need.
Adelaide Oval should be used more but as a neutral venue only.

Prospect is a dump.....
advantage is playing on a better surface. The SANFL grounds were in poor condition this year

Lack of rain has left a lot of suburban grounds less than ideal, but AO was very spongy during the finals, making it very heavy on legs, higher chance of soft tissue injury etc.
What is your home ground?
Give your reasons for calling Prospect a dump, I interested in hearing your dribble.
I guess when (if) you are at your club's home ground you never:
- go out to the 1/4 or 3/4 time huddle
- have a kick on the ground with your kids
try doing any of those things at AO and you'll get arrested, not to mention can't kick a ball on the hill without the back & yellow nazi's wanting to take it away, increased cost of food/drinks/carparking, FFS do you want me to keep going, there's plenty more yet, atmosphere, anything less than 6 or 7000, there is none at Adelaide
Anyone who thinks that Adelaide Oval is a better proposal than any of the suburban grounds is so out of touch I really wonder how many games that they actually attend !!

Perhaps it will improve, time will tell, but I have heard that the new turf will always be softer than the turf that was replacedJamesH wrote:Adelaide does have a good surface (recent turf replacement is the reason it was heavy this year)....
I would consider it an insult for SANFL players to have to play in front of small crowds that will give little or no atmosphere at Adelaide, yet those same crowds do create good atmosphere at the smaller suburban grounds.JamesH wrote:All Im saying is if the numbers add up why not play at a superior venue. You have given no response to all of the other negatives re: adelaide that I posted, I suspect that is because there is nothing positive to respond with................and what was your teams home ground, I seem to have missed that bit.

Other rumour as I briefly metioned on another thread is that due to the possible unavailablity of Adelaide Oval next year and the SANFL not being impressed with Thebby that next years ANZAC day match may be at Elizabeth Oval.
Bollocks to both proposals I say.

what's Wedgie's deep-seated problem with playing the game at Elizbf? More bloody ANZACS out there than around Thebarton!
