I can still win off these sides without purchasing a membership!

Bernie Vince I reckon will poll about 5 best of grounds
whether that is enough to win it I don't know
Luke Jarrad should poll well
but that Allen guy from North seems to be the favorite
Bernie Vince for me
very classy player!

Callinan not too far behind.

Reckon Fisher or B.Kane will be the best for the Bays.......Allen from North should win it though.

I think Nelson will get a lot of votes early.

I reckon Chambo will poll like most other Full Forwards other than Fred Phillis unfortunatley!
Has had an outstanding season, making the most of his opportunities, obviously otherwise he would have not got a ton!
But I don't think he's in the thick of it enough to poll big votes.
Crane, Backwell, Sheedy, Treeby, those sort of blokes will lead the way.
Umpires give the votes and they're no rocket scientists!

I went to the count last year, great night. Anyone got a guernsey this year?
Failure is only the opportunity to begin again more intelligently.

I wonder if the 5RPH guys still won't rate Allan in the Top 2 recruits of the year even if he takes out the Advertiser Player of the Year, the Budget Player of the Year and the Magarey Medal.

Allen to win by plenty, but i wouldn't have him in my best top 10 SANFL players going around this year. But he plays the role which enables him to pick up 30 possesions a game which is what wins the Magarey unfortunatley. After watching again against the dogs, I still have question marks over his effectiveness and foot skills but this rarely counts on vote night. He won't get many other midfielders stealing votes at North either, they don't have to many other high possesion midfielders.

WHUFC, I wouldn't use Sundays game as a yardstick of Allan's ability, as he was clearly not fit.

Can anyone explain to me WHY the medal count is on Thursday night & NOT earlier in the week ?

Surely this is a distraction & hinderance to to 2 teams in the GF on the Sunday ??

Why isn't it on say Tuesday night ??

Yeah good point Punk Rooster, i didn't really take that into account it's just i find these awards Magarey and Browlow genreally go to the players that get the most possesions and doesn't have anyone to steal votes from their club.
Due to the umpires giving votes they don't really have time to take into account the effectivness of the possesion, there is to many other things to worry about, the magarey votes is the last thing on their mind during a game.
Though in saying that i probably have seen allen 6-10 times this year either t.v or live and i do still question his effectiveness and kicking ability but know doubt is wins the ball.

Crap - here is the relevant stats of North's top possession gatherers compared to Centrals (as they are the best team in the league) at the end of the minor round!

Possession Leaders (as at end of the minor round)

Centrals
Slade 437 21.9 per game
J. Gowans 389 19.5
C. Gowans 375 19.8

Symes 358 25.6

North
Allan 527 27.7 per game
Younie 416 19.8

Ivens 389 21.6
Howard 387 19.4

I have highlighted the 3 midfielders from each side - Symes and Ivens both defenders off the half back flank so they are not in bold.

Yep, North have no other midfielders other than Allan!

Because Channel 9 wanted it on the Thursday night to fit in with their programming and the SANFL was at C9s mercy after the ABC dumpted it. The SANFL also wanted a lead up to the GF as traditionally the Magarey Medal count was held 2 or 3 weeks earlier.
