Aerie, wouldn't you put McKenzie on Gill? Did a fairly good job last time. McGregor too slow, put him on Alleway, may even be tested there.

Ladhams is a real worry. Sense he's just about due to take a game apart, and it took someone like Colville to keep him under control. Redden is the next option, but unfortunately this makes me nervous. This is where we miss someone like Potter.

To win the premiership Passador and Inkster have to play a part, but again wary after the amount of footy they've missed this year.

Regarding Fuller always pulling a "smokey" in finals time, do you think this is somewhat of a bluff for finals time, or a key part in a players development for the next season - if he can handle the pressure of a final straight up then this will give him confidence for next the regular games next season? Interesting that for the most part each has been relatively successful, even going back to Stokes in '02.

Perhaps Sydney Dog but perhaps not .
Last week the Eagles just lost to North and had to play in a final that they normally don't have to play in.This week just winning means the EAGLES are playing in a final they normally play in this time of year.

And its the same old Enemy North Adelaide  whatever happens with the EAGLES they have had a very hard year at one stage being down the bottom with Glenelg. Both teams made it to the finals the Eagles need just one more win to defend their title from last year.

At this time of the year Ron Fuller and the boys know what to do.

I seem to remember a similar thing being said this time last season and look what happened we came out and pumped CD into oblivion in the GF. If there's one thing that should be learnt from our success last season it is that you never write off the Eagles.

I think McKenzie is probably the best match up for Gill as far as stopping Gill is concerned, but I think the Eagles are a better team with McKenzie playing more of an attacking role from half back. It would be very hard to do this on Gill, who spends a fair amount of time close to the goal square as well as running all over the place.

Fuller pulls a player out of the hat every finals series. Some work, some don't. Stokes was a success as was Hier. Others were moderately effective like Martin, Stewart, Freeborn etc. Geddes looks the goods and I'm sure would have played most of the season had he not broken his arm in the first game.

Yeah, that's pretty true about McKenzie.

Vince was another I was thinking of. Stewart was a bit unfortunate with his injury last year. With a bit of match fitness he might be the one for Gill.

Not sure that North supporters would agree with you re Ladhams' form. Although he was listed as out injured for the Second-Semi, the fact that he came in for Lonie meant that he had actually been dropped from the first 21 and not injured. He did play well on Sunday but I believe he has not been in great form of late other than this.
Based on what I saw on Sunday I expect the Eagles to win this week. The fact that Central outscored North 8 goals to 2 once they got the cobwebs out of the system leads me to thinking that the Eags will prevail.

If he had been dropped, he would have played 2's the day before, this is from http://www.nafc.com.au/news/p649.aspx

Lads puts his hand up

North fans would now be aware of the late change forced on the Club through Nathan Lonie being withdrawn from our side on Saturday night by the Power as they prepare for this weeks AFL Grand Final.Whilst we all wish Nathan the best in terms of selection it did place our side in a predicament as the Reserves had played on Saturday afternoon.

What wasn't known to our faithful was that Chris had spent two days in hospital early in the week following an accident at work.Whilst cleared to play the next week, Lads put his hand up for selection and following a clearance from the medical staff was cleared to play yesterday. For all those at the Oval yesterday it was clear that that Lads was a valuable contributor in our narrow loss. Well done young man!

BP - that he hasn't been in great form is my point, he has occasionally looked dangerous without dominating, and that's why I feel it's just around the corner, esp with a player of his experience and class.

I now accept that Ladhams was indeed injured. Good to see his recovery and I must admit he did play well on Sunday. Yes, it may well be that Ladhams is returning to form.

Can't believe all the talk about who matches up on who !!!

This game will be decided in the MIDFIELD, simple as that.

Lindsay will destroy O'Hara (has had his one good finals game)...
Particularly around the ground.
Which ever team's midfielders manage to dominate the 'take aways' from the contested rucks, will win the game.

North's ability to get on top whilst Lindsay is resting, again will pose problems for our guys.

I would 'drop' McGregor to the bench & play him as a 'stop-gap' in bursts both forward & back.
MUST play Geddes again, leaving Grocke out, Geddes played VERY well last week.
Passadore into the forward line, might mean Symo misses out.
I wouldn't pick 'sicknote' (Inkster), is a liability in my opinion at this stage of the year, due to his injuries.

i heard an interesting point on the radio yesterday. that in 02 and in 06 centrals had the bye in the last round and the two weeks off in the finals for finishing top and then winning the semi. both times they have lost to sturt and WWT. so that will make centrals worried and make who ever plays them know they have a chance.

Nah, they wouldn't stand a chance with some members of the Eagles "cheer squad" around.
