This idea surely ranks as the dumbest most poorly thought through idea of the year!

5AA are a commercial radio station. That means they are guided by ratings first and foremost. I can guarantee that any AFL game will get more listeners than SANFL, and consequently people want to hear and talk about AFL far more often than SANFL. It's a fact of life. What a boycott will do though is convince them there's not the ratings and they will do something else. A boycott is the best way to make sure they never touch the SANFL and will give KG and Cornes the comeback of "when we called the SANFL finals it was a ratings disaster" when people complain about a lack of SANFL coverage. If you want to convince them that there's value in covering SANFL then you have to do your best to make this a ratings WINNER. If that happens they might consider doing more SANFL and the SANFL callers can point to the great SANFL finals ratings as indication that people want to hear more SANFL.

Like I said, a boycott will do the exact opposite of what you seem to want to happen!

I think it is good. Us overseas listeners get another option if the web cast is overloaded and we can't get the regular stations.
Apart from that I echo the thoughts of Hondo, Rushby, Graham and co. This is exposure for the SANFL, and the number of people that just leave the radio on all day regardless of what is on it will be listening to it. Good for the game.
I understand that you may be concerned about RPH and Life missing out on some of their regular audience, but berating 5AA is firing shots off in the wrong direction IMO.
I'm gonna sit back, crack the top off a Pale Ale, and watch the Double Blues prevail

Exactly, another avenue to publicise the great game of local footy. IMO, RPH and Life shouldn't miss out too much, as regular listeners of those stations will tune in instead of switching to AA...

Not entering this argument except to advise the commentary teams through the finals series.

RPH - Daryl Smith, Dennis Browne & Paul Blandis

Life FM - Jon Symonds, Phil Herden & guest players

891ABC - Peter Walsh, John Nankivell & guest players

not sure on Fiveaa

How about boycotting them but if anyone has a ratings sheet the put that you only listened to 5AA when the SANFL was on, that way everyone's a winner!:)

Hey PhilH

Do you think the Double Blues are a chance on Sunday given your pre-season prediction of us finishing last?

5aa could have Billy the Goose and Humphrey B Bear calling the footy and they still would be better than listening to Paul Blandis and to a lesser extent DB.

Who really gives a toss who covers it and why!! At end of day why listen to it on the wireless when you can be amongst it!! (sorry for people to far away). Its the AFL which brings home the $$$ to these stations from the advertisements.

It's the 5AA NAFC show at the moment...

Can almost hear KG & Cornsey getting frustrated with the calls being about SANFL and not AFL.
