1. LOL @ that, although he's MUCH THINNER than I am

2. This competition is in danger of losing it's appeal - re: A-League & young people's involvement.

3. The SANFL would NOT have put this game directly up against PAP if PM were playing, so why do it for a POTENTIAL 6000 + crowd that will more than likely not even make 4000 ???

4. 40 000 + @ Footy Park for AFL, 13 000 + @ Hindmarsh for A-League on Friday Night... Saturday Night would have been PERFECT for 6000 to 8000 @ SANFL game @ AO

It is a STUPID decision & it can't be defended... Max Basheer was a MUCH stronger leader than Payze... Max would NOT have allowed the 2 clubs to dictate, they would have been told.

I don't mind being critised for looking beyond the square & being different to convention, bring it on.

There's a rumour on the Roost that North and Sturt may have their U19s match as the curtain raiser and have the ressies later in the weekend.

Pre match drinks anyone? I reckon I'll start at the Duke of York at 5 to enjoy the free $35 drink vouchers they hand out and the $3.50 pizzas before migrating somewhere closer to the ground, maybe the Casino?

At the Sturt presentation's Saturday night the general manager said that they would be happy to play friday night instead of competing against the crows on saturday, good choice from both clubs to play friday night. if you are a die hard you will be out there (unless you have to work which is fair enough)

Would anyone notice if they didn't play the South/Norwood game? Just call some scores through to the paper and go to the pub?

Yep, you'd have to be a pretty ardent supporter to bother walking through the gate at Noarlunga this weekend...

When was the last time an SANFL match received less than 1000 spectators?

I'm sure the Sunday Mail would have already received the official crowd figure, and will be more then 1,000

Can one of you die hards walk around the oval half way thru the third quarter and count all the spectators? (not including Handby, he's paid to be there)
He's still my hero even if he is a little bit crap.

If the current forecast holds up, Saturday seems to be the better option!

Seems strange the clubs would prefer to compete against a Crows final IMO, but that was their request.

Thank God for the SANFL, get to watch my beloved Redlegs and Cats this weekend! Stuff the COWS, they've raped and destroyed our league for long enough! Follow your TRUE HEART and you'll find yourself at a suburban ground with a radio for your beloved COWS!

People keep saying that the CEO's etc agreed on the way the fixtures are sorted this weekend to get the maximum break between the final round and the finals, "Studley" was saying as much on 5AA tonight as well (for what his lack of up to date SANFDL knowledge is worth!). Personally I think all 4 or at least 3 games should be on Sunday. I think the maximum break between this weeks games and the finals is a little flawed based on the following:

There are a number of games during the season on Sundays where teams have to back up on the following Sunday.

If the games are played this Sunday there is still 7 days before the finals start so what is the big deal with an extra 1 day or in North and Sturts case, 1 and a bit?

At least 2 of the games have big finals ramifications and deserve big crowds. The game most likely to have a poor crowd is the Eagles and Bays plus it is a TV game. The league should just play the Port/West game on Saturday to satisfy it's ABC contract. That will be the game least affected by going up against the Crows because Port hate the tri-colours and how many West people are still bothering to go to their games apart from family and close friends? Glenelg asked for as many home game Sundays this year (and got them) so why wouldn't they have pushed for a Sunday game this week as they are used to the routine but maybe they got no say with the ABC TV contract?

Even the Friday night game is going to be affected in some way this week because already I know of a number of North people going to Melb for the Crows game or going to see the other "Reds" - Adelaide United play their first home game plus if the weather turns "shitty" some 50-50 type followers who would go given fair weather might just choose the Friday Night AFL final on the box at home instead.

Overall I think the SANFL got this wrong, they chop and change during the season and make allowances in tryin gnot to go up against the AFL but cme finals when their is heightened interest they come out with this draw.

P.S. I'm sure Sturt fancy their chances at night under lights against North (not based on last year mind you!) but a Sunday game may have given them time to get a few under injury clouds an extra 2 days to come up? I'm baffled by firstly why Sturt asked for Friday night 2 weeks ago and secondly North for agreeing. The finals are after all played in the day and this could be a potential finals match up at some point so why not mark your line in the sand in similar conditions?

Media Allocation

Sturt v North -- RPH Adelaide

Eagles v Glenelg -- ABC TV & Life FM

West v Port -- RPH Adelaide

South v Norwood -- No Broadcast

Correction
West v Port is now also no Broadcast

Don't panic JAS, I'll make sure Life FM get plenty of SMS score updates from Noarlunga.
Now just got to work on someone at Broadspectrum.

Thank you Philikins...wasn't so much a panic...more a sulk  Will definately be tuning in to LifeFM especially as the SANFL scoreboard seems to have a mind of its own...some scores at the weekend went backwards or disappeared completely  :?
