Get used to it. There were plenty handed out last night, it looks as though that's how they will umpire in 2008.

The umps tonight were an absolute disgrace. The SANFL umpired have been absolutely pathetic for a fair few years now but after tonights performance and apparantly last nights, they have hit a new low. Some of the free kicks paid and not paid was laughable.

Also, how the hell can they play night footy at Elizabeth, the lighting is way below what is required. Need to give the players miners helmets. 30m out from goal straight out in front is dark, and you can hardly tell what team a player plays for when they are across the other side of the oval.

"Finally, while im having a rant, what a pathetic display by the security tonight. When the fat wanker decided to run accross the oval, the security did NOTHING AT ALL. It was left for one of the umpires to run up to him amd usher him in the direction of the boundary. When fatty finally got to the fence, the security from the other side of the ground decided to walk across the oval, and were still in the middle of the wing when play restarted."

It was good to catch up with Bulldogproud, SamGoUDogs (or however ya' spell it!), WHUFC (an Ian Callinan clone) & JAR MAN OUT, who has informed me that, alas, he won't be trolling around these parts this year. Therefore, I will be his conduit to this site (at a small fee). He was rather contentious last night when he informed me that PhilH is a closet Central supporter? Surely this can't be so!

I respect Centrals & the dominance they have had over the years have been incredible, i feel they won't blow sides away this year like they had on a consistant basis over the years, sides are slowly catching them.
I know its early but Phil i can make a comment like that this time of the year & i can be proven wrong ( may well be ) I'm well aware of the numbers of Central supporters on this site & i just like firing you blokes & chicks up yet i do believe its someone elses flag this year.

That's cool NO-MERCY, I appreciate what you are saying...

I agree with some of your points, but, I will say write the Dogs off at your own peril... [-X

From what I saw of the trials and the first week of games, you're right, the others are slowly catching up to our standard. Obviously your boys have recruited well to cover some experience lost through retirement and you had a pretty tight battle with the Red & Whites on the weekend.
I think with plenty more quality players to come back into your team, I reckon some of the media that predicted an Eagles slide this year, will be proven wrong. :-k

Again though, it is going to be a tough, long year for all involved and we will just have to wait and see how the season pans out. One things for sure, if the standard for the year continues at the level we saw on the weekend, the SANFL is going to be a cracker of a competition

Good luck to your boys on the weekend, our game against Sturt should be a cracker !!! :D

The dogs should be at least somewhere around where they were last year. If we kept Obst, Grima (and then got Todd Grima) we would look much better, but I still think our youngsters will improve enough to make our side a little better than last year. At worst I would have thought only a slight slip back. However, the big, big thing for me is Nathan Steinberner. If he gets back into the league team and plays the year out, not only do we get a magnificent player (along with Luke McCabe) but it would be the biggest spur any club could possibly get. The rest of the team would leave nothing to chance to send him off with a flag after working to overcome the injuries he's had for one last crack. This season will also probably see the end of Slade and the Gowans (gut feel only). In a season where motivation is probably going to be more telling than talent or gameplan (given both have proven enough season after season), these possibilities could result in something of an anti-premiership hangover!
