It goes without saying that the club I love and support has not played in a GF in 29 years and has not won a Premiership in 44 years. What we would not give for just 1 flag.

Would be nice B&W but think we will be waiting along time yet!!! :(

A few more years at least Southee (or should I call you Baysee now???)

Go away...... Hope the Bays could have gotten up but Centrals just too good.

Mate, you were barracking pretty hard!

Man what a game, WHAT A GAME!!!

Got a tad nervous when Glenelg kicked the first one - if we were to win this one we'd have to create history (as we've never won a GF where we haven't kicked the first goal). At the same time, I thought 'well we kicked the first one in 2006 and got smashed by 12 goals', so didn't give up hope. I then had a sense of deja vu as the game panned out like the second semi final.

The highlights for me:

- Matthew Westhoff's Motlop-esque goal in the second quarter.
- The middle stages of the third quarter where we piled on about 4 goals in as many minutes. I'd just got over celebrating one and there was another.

Also had a very enjoyable night last night at the afterparty.

Had to drop a mate home at South Brighton afterwards (meaning I didn't get home until 2:30am). We approached Port Adelaide and it started spitting. Driving down Tapleys Hill Road it started to get heavier until it was a decent shower along Brighton Road (and the roads showed signs of fresh rain as well) :D

As for Todd Grima - Centrals may be too old and too slow but they were too good for your mob!

Now lets all go down to the chimney tomorrow and make KG suffer his ultimate embarrassment - singing the club song :D

You want it - come and get it!
They don't keep me here because I'm gorgeous and 5'10

Just on Grima. I was told yesterday that before he signed with Glenelg he spent a day with the Centrals boys at Luke Cowans place for a bbq and drinks and he drank all the piss put on, got smashed and left with everyone believing he was going to be a Bulldog. A week or so later signs with the bays! Says alot about a bloke i reckon and some of the boys havent let him forget it either. Good decision Grima you dumass.

And didn't Evil kill him yesterday.
I think our first goal was a result of some loose checking on Grima's part.
He was in a contest, stood there afterwards, meanwhile Evil's on the half back rebounding the ball down the clear side of the oval.

Here's a joke for you....I can't claim credit for it. I'm not that funny.
I'm sure the man with the copyright will read this thread.

What's the difference between Nathan and Todd Grima?

An SANFL premiership.

I really enjoyed this game. I thought that up to half time it wa pretty even and very fast and skillful for GF. The succession of goals in the 3rd really blew Glenelg away as they missed opportunities. Score-board pressure is huge in GFs. I thought that with the weeks rest we would win if still close at 3/4 time but Buckets McKenzie had other ideas. A very dominate finals series from buckets and a deserving medalist.
We used to be good :-(

we done to the dogs, they played a very good game of football. Can the Glenelg directors please organise for a tow truck to come back to AAMI to pick up the buses which were left there from the glenelg supporters who jumped off at three quarter time.

Don't get too high and mighty, it happens all the time. Central have been known to pick up a few after they'd "promised" themselves to other clubs.

very old news, where have you been all year?

I think you will find Todd if VERY happy with his choice, which was not purely football based...

Buckets was easily the player of the finals for us.
His efforts to keep us alive and kicking in the QF against Sturt was so very significant. And this result and effort gave us all the belief we needed.

It certainly turned out to be an interesting statistical season:
o Centrals were 0-4 against Sturt and Glenelg (to R17), ended 5-4 (last 4 on the trot)
o Glenelg were 4-0 against Sturt and Centrals, ended 5-3
o Sturt wee 2-2 against Centrals and Glenelg (to R23), ended 2-5
o North was our last loss (at Prossie) in 2007 and 2008!

So I contend they pretty much ended up as they should have, based on second half season form and the fact we rolled Sturt and Glenelg four times in a row (both were top at the time). This season was as pleasing a result as 2005, having to dig deep after a slow start. Interesting that the comebacks in 2005 and 2008 were Gowans inspired - we went undefeated after James returned from injury in 2005 (missed about 7), and could not have lost many on the return from a few months off with Chris this year. Wingnut's return also significant for us.

O'Hara, Thomas, Gowans x2 and Grima were terrific for us.

To the bays - a top season, but learned the valuable 'step up in gear' lesson that took The Eagles so long to learn. There are good signs for your clubs future, a lot of young 20-odds out there yesterday, you'll be back.

Plus it's not all bad news for The Bays and their fans - at least they know exactly where they'll be on April 25, 2009! :D :D
