IMO it was not a spear tackle in the manner that League officials view them, IMO it was dangerous and reckless and 2 weeks is sufficient for mine.

The action he used was different to a classic spear tackle but he still deliberately flipped the bloke onto his head.

He still drove that pour bloke's melon right into the turf.

The action was different, the result was the same

OK my take on the video i have seen and it may not be popular but it wasnt technically a "spear Tackle" these tackles have no part in any sport and re so dangerous. IMO

Shirley has the west player(fisher i believe) around upper part of the shoulders. Then unfortunatley for Shirley and Fisher Fisher tries to shake the tackle/release the tackle just as Shirley does to dump him(no need to dump him) due to the 2 movements the weight transfer by Shirley and Fisher means Shirley's force is multiplied and the angle of dumping part of the tackle is increased. Still Shirley didnt need to dump Fisher and unfortunatly Fisher hurt himshelf and i hope he makes a full recovery. As for a penalty??? people dump players when they shouldnt all the time and get nothing

I find it absolutely staggering that anyone could view that footage and then come to the conclusion the tackler should get off. Fisher would have been within an inch of being wheelchair bound for life. You don’t think maybe it was reckless and deserved a penalty? Amazing!

Shirley meant to tackle him to the ground YES.... he didnt mean to dump him on his head. The movement that Fisher made to (shrug) the tackle meant the transfer of weight meant then contact he made with the ground was head first. Reckless YES in the fact he didnt need to tackle him to the ground(happens all the time).... meaning for the reuslt to cause injury NO

Wouldn't mind betting the SANFL tribunal collapses under weight of appeal with the Crows leaning on them as well.

the Crows Found More Footage, A different angle to what we saw, (the crows had a person taping the game for Craigy), the Crows will help represent Shirley with the eagles. they expect with that Footage to get him off. will be interesting to see if the crows pick him at 4:30 today.

it is an Interesting point that if he does not get off it will be effectively a 3 game ban with the SANFL state game this week, he will not ba able to play for the crows but that doesent count because the eagles arent playing.
