Lonie and White would be more of an issue if the Power win as they wouldn't want a potential player only having a 6 day break before a GF.
Can't believe all the journos picked North. Is it only the bookies that remember the Dogs have lost less games in 2007 than Geelong?

Wedgie, White and Lonie would have to be selected by the Power first before that would become an issue. Not sure that they would make changes like that to a winning side.

Time will tell but i know from speaking to a mate in the mix that the Power would very very seriously consider pulling the two players out if they loose. The risk of injury plus the risk of White and Lonie not playing well could decrease value, on the other hand even if they played a cracker most other AFL clubs would expect that at very least therefore not increasing their value. it's a loose loose situation for the power to have them play, no benefits from their point of view.

Wrong BP they've done it to us before. If they make the GF they will want all of their squad fresh.
Only chance if they win is if they're 100 pct sure those 2 aren't close to selection which I doubt would be the case. We would have a chance a week later if they didn't play in the GF though.

Especially with the North game being late on Sunday.

Hi Wedgie,
They may want their squad fresh but that will not impact upon North's chances of having them play. Do not forget that Port play before North play, possibly even a week before. Unless the Power select them, it is a non-issue. It would have been this week that they would have made them unavailable so as to have them fresh for next week.

Good point Wedgie,
I really feel for White and Lonie, in this situation, i would have no doubt both are 100% committed to running out with the roosters, but in the back of their minds they would realise there is a chance they won't play. Their preparation would sub consiously be hampered due to the fact they have no contrlo on their situation.

I may be misinterpreting things here. I thought we were talking about their chances of playing in the Prelim or Granny for North. Do we mean this week?
If so, Lonie may be pulled but would they do it to White who needs game time considering he is returning from injury?

BP as I said they've already set a precedent and unless the Power select their GF team with 100% cofidence on Sat which they could never do due to outside influences such as injuries at training there's a 95% chance they'll take both of them out.
If they lose we'll have no probs just like the Eagles are having no probs with Kenny Mac.

Then it will be balanced somewhat as we will lose Brad Symes who must be close to being selected as well.
I know the title of the thread but someone mentioned them being unlikely to be available for North next week. That sort of shifted focus a bit, don't you think?

Dunno mate, only on the site during the day on my phone so I try to stay short and to the point. When I get home tonight Ill go through the posts and see if someone did take it off topic.
Unless you were confused by me talking about the AFL GF?
Symes is good but White and Lonie combined are better. North also has the added disadvantage of having their ressies play the day before so as almost happened last week we might have to have a player back up 2 days in a row.

On a re-read I may have been the one to take it off topic. Sorry mate! (hoping we are still mates!
Symes has been present for Central far more than White and Lonie and is an integral part of Central's game plan. I cannot see Port not allowing White to play as he needs game time, coming off an injury, does he not?

I would agree with you but unfortunately the Power don't with what they've done in the past.
On the confusion over the GFs I can assure you no North supporters are even close to talking about the SANFL GF.

I agree that if Port lose this week then North have no worries. Lonie and White could both show how much they care about North by playing no matter what Port say. Stuey Dew did that for Central in 2000. He played despite Port telling him not to.

I'm glad that after all of that we agree.
GO THE ROOS

Its weird because as a Geelong fan or potential Collingwood fan I want Port to win, as a North fan I want them to lose. I'm torn.

Wedgie, you know I am an agreeable guy *grins*
Living in Victoria this year, I have adopted Port as a second team. Trust me, it is better than barracking for a Victorian team like Collingwood! Make it easy and want Port to win no matter what *grins*

Interesting comment about North being better on paper. What's that based on? I don't see too many premiership players, Magarey medalists or Ken Farmer medalists in that team. Surely a good team on paper is based on achievements in the past and not potential.

Past means nothing, it's the present, as from 3.10pm on Sunday 50/50 those who commit themselves better on the day will win. Suppose a bit like last years grand final, a hell of a lot of premiership players on the park that day on one side and bugger all on the other, which won held the cup high :D
