Nice work Triggy.

Wow!!!

Say each membership is around $60 that's around $30 000 lost the SANFL clubs especially if these people are dropping off and not spending money at games, on merchandise, in club facilities etc etc.

But they do get $50k apiece from the Crows so they are $20k better off ;)

Membership number for 2013 and ones from 20 March came from this article. http://www.sanfl.com.au/news/sanfl_news/2404/

Other number came from club websites tonight but not sure how up to date these are as I know Sturts hasn’t changed for over a week.

All clubs but West are currently down but it is still only round 2. I also didn’t realise how few members South had!

Centrals
2013 – 2326
2014 – 1379 on 20 March
Down 947 on 20 March

Glenelg
2013 – 2841
2014 – 2323
Down 518

North
2013 – 2454
2014 - 2050
Down 404

Norwood
2013 – 3223
2014 – 2794
Down 429

Port
2013 – 5023
2014 – 3610 on 20 March or the one club is 50254?? (inc Pets)
Down 1413 on 20 March

South
2013 – 969
2014 – 760 on 20 March
Down 209 on 20 March

Sturt
2013 – 3800
2014 – 3002

It doesn't compare apples with apples ... the high water mark for memberships is not at the start of the season.

I'll restate for Glenelg that 2323 at this time of year is consistent with previous seasons, with the final tally coming around mid-season or later.

Let's revisit mid-season and see where we stand across all clubs.

Anyway I hate the Crows Reserves.
They lured my beloved North into a false sense of security and made us think we were actually quite good.
Bastards. Kick em out

Comparing 2013 figures at the end of the season
with 2014 figures before a lot of clubs play their 1st home game
is a "guide" but not an exact direct comparison.

A lot of SANFL fans only sort out their club memberships in the 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after the first game.

So if your club is close to the 2013 figure by these stats they have a good change of surpassing it.

That said ... some clubs are in a better position that others to retain their 2013 base.

With the Eagles we had busier pre Christmas that last year, a quieter late January / February but then March exceeded last year to catch up.

By my count the Eagles passed their total figure last week, but still some work to do in a couple of categories.
Hopefully a big turn up on Easter Monday will assist with that.

I would say Central, Sturt, WWT all being well over 500 down and having had a home game already would be worried that they are not going to get close to last years figures.

Also Glenelg being 500 down and another home loss today would imho see them struggle to reach anywhere near that figure.

South should be fine especially they can keep their early form up this season.

Eagles are not 500 down, figure was March 20. We are now ahead of last years total figure

On the contrary, I believe the Crows Reserves will confirm that the Bays are still shit ... faark, this will be worse than 1990 when Essendon lost the GF to Collingwood.

Mate, the Bays aren't 500 down and aren't playing at home today ... and PhilH has stated the Eagles aren't either. No probs about being passionate about hating the AFL sides but use facts not scaremongering.

Yesterday visited a few mates having a get together at Salisbury
Enjoyed my visit
Was set to leave about 1:45pm
Was asked where I was going
Said I was going to Elizabeth Oval to watch Norwood v Centrals
I was then told that the game had almost finished
It was a middayish start

DERRRRRR
Stupidity on my behalf
Recent happenings to the SANFL has eroded by passion
So much so , had I read press reports etc , I would have known

C7
My whinge is
C7 wanted an early broadcast and ruined my afternoon

PA V GL
Bayman , the Glenelg supPORTer who has not missed a Glenelg game in almost 40 years , rang me to go to today's game
I initially said yes
I rang back 15 minutes later
Said I had no interest in seeing a B grade team playing Glenelg

WHINGE
My biggest whinge these days is
This comp is not the same without the A grade Port teams I've admired and respected in the 20th century

Rucci in yesterday's rag:

NORWOOD projected a crowd of 10,000 as fitting for last week's SANFL season-opener against traditional rival Port Adelaide.

How can the PP seconds be our traditional rival when it's the first time we've played them?

WANKER!!!

Crowd at Unley 3,505. Once again the mythical "4,000" fail to materialise.
