I can't be arsed digging it up, but I reckon I posted as much on here. I certainly claimed it in both the emails I've sent to the ABC thus far.

Maybe the footy replays ARE low-rating - but I'll wager more people have interest in the footy than the test pattern.

Ditto

If I didn't articulate it clearly I certainly meant to both in here and in my letters to teh ABC.

I used to watch the WAFL and VFL regularly. It was great watching some of my ex-athletes I used to deal with in Darwin playing in both teh WAFL and VFL
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It is intersting to see the contact us page on the ABC2 website - something like a dozen or so threads re this decision each with a dozen or more responses relating to football, rugby, netball and WNBL.

Is not just a SANFL issue.

Not so sure about that Hondo. I go to the Talking Carlton forum regularly, and there is a thread on there re the disappointment of not being able to watch SANFL & WAFL (as well as VFL replays).

Talking Carlton

Whilst certainly not as lengthy nor passionate as the thread here, it does show that other states wish to see the replays as well.

Also as I don't go to the let's say Geelong or Essendon forum, who's to say they haven't raised the same issue ?

All I really want to see is the VFL and the Bullants run around. If I wish to watch a replay of the SANFL game I'll just record the original broadcast.

Hondo, I think one of the issues is, that the ABC have stated that the reason if for programming etc.

BUT, considering they show nothing but test pattern after 2300 every evening, it makes it hard to swallow that
given reason.

IF they did show some programming, and it was deemed a more appropriate program then state based football leagues
then I'd cope, but for a test pattern  FFS pathetic.....

I've just emailed Kate Ellis (I've known her since she was about 5  ), so I will see what her reply is like...

EDIT...Did you just delete a post Hondo ??

Not that I'm aware of Dutchy.

However, perhaps CD and I could get together for a chat as Board members of our clubs with a view to pursuing this at SANFL Management level?

good thinking...if the ABC are getting hit from all angles it will make the case much stronger

I'd do it myself, but as she is my local member she's already got a bunch of correspondence from me...

Senator Conroy is Minister for Communications and is the Minister that ABC Management report to.

Sorry, probably should have said "Interesting that he just sent it to Conroy".

Appearances can be deceptive, but he just doesn't look like a guy who really gives a sh!t about sport on TV...

I liked to watch the WAFL and VFL, too. Just to see some action from our equivalent comps, something anyone without a high powered dish or a contact to send the matches over couldn't do before.

I used to watch the WAFL on Monday & VFL on Wednesday just as much as the SANFL.

It was always good to see how the SANFL and the coverage compared with other leagues.

It regularly served as a stark warning to me of the what the SANFL could become in the future if fans and media alike lost interest and there is no effort to generate a new furture supporter base.
