Westozfalcon, the interesting thing about all the on and off field changes is that Cahill has minimal,if any, input into what is happening which leads me to ask who are the people enforcing all these changes. I can only presume the CEO and recently appointed coaching selection panel, which leads to the next question, how did these folks become so powerful so quickly and they were not voted in by the members.
While on South all Southies should go to Noarlunga ans have a look at the $4.0million (that is $4.0 MILLION!!) development of our club. It's an enormous amount of money, which is a concern as it is borrowed money, however it is already looking brillant and its only half finished!

Serious question. Is the paragraph above one of the reason why South have struggled over the years? Despite all of the advantages they've had in terms of finances I wonder if off field matters, such as club redevelopments, have taken precedence over football matters?

Just wondering what South supporters reackon.

Make no mistake there is certainly plenty of turmoil at Noarlunga at the moment and plenty more to come. While I am one to embrace change, because nothing has worked during the last 43 years, I do question the way the club is going about it.
I'm afraid there are one or two people who have been treated pretty poorly.
The AGM in December should be an absolute belter, arrive early to get a seat as it will be on for young and old.

Get a seat early at the AGM...ABSOLUTE RUBBISH. You will have the same old faithfull faces there and the new ones that are all stirred up will be out numbered by the old ones that can't be bothered attending. What has South got to offer, the years of mis-management and rule breaking has come back to bite them. The big flurry with the new board fell flat on it's face because it took them over 12 months to achieve their one agenda - get rid of Pyman. Pyman showed their shallowness up during the coach re-election saga at the end of last season.
South had to seek a coach with modern ideas with some runs on the board. The ideal type of coach would have been Andy Collins. He was very strongly recommended to South by Kevin Morris as the number one option available, by the time South eventually rang him he had accepted West Adelaide's job (by 2 weeks) so they did not really try for anyone outside of Cahill.
What is the main reason Cahill is coaching South??? How will the young players react to someone who is older than their Grandfather, will the young players understand the Cahill aura, will it get too hard in the middle of June when the sou-wester is blowing 35 knots and it is 6 degrees.
The only thing that will happen at the AGM is that a couple of old faithfulls will make a stand, have their say, get emotional and go home.
South has to get worse before it gets better and the football community (hierachy of SANFL) believes this is one result they will achieve.

Jackal what is that diatribe of yours all about, speaking of rubbish that beats all rubbish posted on this site. The league team was a mess this year, not the entire club, reasonable measures have benn taken to correct this and the AGM will attract new folks because of the dissappopintment of that performance and the subsequent fall out. This in turn will attract new voices and thoughts.

He does raise some good points about Cahill's appointment and you can't tell me that others don't have the same lack of confidence in his appointment. Time will tell who is right in the end.

I think if you dont go out there and play your best footy because your coach is old then you are piss weak. Why get someone with modern ideas? How about getting someone with GOOD ideas. Jack is that man. Funny how the only good year that the Magpies have had in the last 5 was the one that Jack was coach.

Actually I'm told Torney hasn't accepted as yet.

Sorry, working in Darwin this week so everything is second hand.
Apparently there was an article in the paper down there which you've probably all read now anyway.

Does anyone know what Osborn's qualifications are?

To do a better job then Phil I'd assume he's spent time marketing teams in the NFL, EPL, NRL and AFL.
If not, questions have to be asked, surely they couldn't be getting into the jobs for boys thing down there as things will just get worse if that was the case.

Had a real soft spot for the Panthers in recent years with the son playing in the Panthers League but I'll be stoked if they come bottom next year with Clarkey winning the Magarey!

wedgie, the chances of Clarkey winning the magarey medal are pretty slim. He has a proven record of being easily "distracted". Mind you out at Norf you have some excellent sponsors who are not only loaded with heaps of cash but are pretty handy lawyers as well.

That's alright mate, most of us at Prossie are distracted for some reason or another.
Biggest issue will be the crowd noise that will distract him as he hasn't heard that for a while.
Seriously one of my favourite if not fav player when he was at the Cats and my favourite South player, stoked to see him at Prossie! :D

No name, but one reason given was "sick of the losing culture".

Strikes me as very odd, do the current not happies have no faith in Jack? Or is it the other way round, the club is giving the DCM to regular "not the sort of player we want at our club" type people?

- or is it all BS....

Obviously wasn't BS.....

Its funny 2 that in that time he was back at the helm, the club opened the cheque book.
That helped him!

Great resume' Jackal. South are a crap club and have been for a long time. They should be the doggies of the south with their suburban and country zones flowing into each other. No relocation or giving up jobs for their country recruits. Strong country leagues. Successful pokies - what else could they want besides a good kick up the a#$*. First they must develop players from within to get mateship and other little intangibles that goes a long way to establishing a successful club and then supplement with judicious recruiting.
I have heard from a couple of South players that the playing group is split 50:50 on whether JC is a good appointment. Main concern is.....will he be able to communiate and relate to the younger players.
