WTF is how old Dew got to do with anything? Anyway, he belted him at the bottom of a pack not king hit him as you stated.
It's the aftermath however that shows what a great man Macca was. After being reported following a complaint from a
bitter CDFC and given a one match suspension, thus missing the GF, he was offered the chance to have the club take out a Supreme Court injunction. Like Andrew Dunkley this would have meant he could have played the following week. To his eternal credit he declined, admitting he'd thumped Dew and deserved his penalty.
A class act.
Well said smacca, couldn't agree more mate. Topsy, I take nothing away from gary, of course well know what a great footballer he was, and of course Norwood club champion, but of a class act in that particular incident... I don't think so, a thuggish act on a young kid, I know so...
While Dewey's agae doesn't have anything specific to do with the incident, I mentioned the age of the current Hawks star to highlight the maliciousness of hitting a kid almost half his age. Do you know for a fact that Stuart belted him at the bottom of the pack because I highly doubt it mate. As a new kid on the block, why would a fresh faced 17 year old go and do a dirty on one of the most renowned tough men of the SANFL in Macca. And if my memory serves me correct (from the footage I have at home somewhere, Macca thumped (as you put it) Stewy on the grandstand wing, behind the play when the ball was 50 metres away, not in a pack situation.
And don't you think your club would be "bitter" as you put it, if a young player in your club was attacked thuggishly behind the play. Centrals were not bitter mate, they just pointed out an obvious indiscretion on Maccas part that was punished accordingly. Enough said about that now, I've already been told to keep this topic on track so let's do so by asking North fans whether they think Jars should stay on next year as coach or do they find a new head honcho ?
