I don't actually love the SANFL. I follow Norwood and it happens to be the league they play in. Sometimes this involves 'competition' and trying to 'beat' the opposition. Occasionally you might even need to 'h*ng sh*t' on other clubs and their supporters because that's what you do in a 'competition'. I actively dislike about, let me count them, eight clubs in this league my team plays in as they're the only thing standing between my club and the premiership. Other than Trevor Hill of course.

Stick your love-in up your jumper, I'm making a stand for petty bitterness and impotent rage against the other eight clubs.

I agree with your sentiments topsy and in keeping with this I would like you to know that I still haven't forgiven Norwood for their thuggish behaviour in the 96? finals series so you and all Norwood supporters can go and get stuffed

I thought that was 1988 when Craig Kelly and Chopper Handley became acquainted?

I think he might be referring to the cowardly act from Gary McIntosh when he king hit a 17 year old Stuart Dew from behind in a final at Footy Park, cowardly act I tell ya...

Speaking of Chopper Handley though, sadly his young daughter Louise has been diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia and they have to travel a fair bit back and form from a Sydney hospital for her treatment. Obviously that would be a big financial strain on Robert and his family so the CDFC web site (and constable Chopper's employer, the Holden Hill police station) have organised a movie night and set up an account for any donations and to raise funds to help support the Handley family in this difficult time...

Here's the link to the flyer and Centrals site with all the info: http://www.cdfc.com.au/2008/20080710_handley.htm

Doggies supporters should get on board and either head to the movie night to help raise funds or make a donation of any size, to help out a former champion of our great football club, and of course, one of my favourite all time players. I know I'll be making a donation...

You probably are ahead of me on this one, but it would be a great idea to make that a topic on its own.

WTF is how old Dew got to do with anything? Anyway, he belted him at the bottom of a pack not king hit him as you stated.

It's the aftermath however that shows what a great man Macca was. After being reported following a complaint from a bitter CDFC and given a one match suspension, thus missing the GF, he was offered the chance to have the club take out a Supreme Court injunction. Like Andrew Dunkley this would have meant he could have played the following week. To his eternal credit he declined, admitting he'd thumped Dew and deserved his penalty.

A class act.

Well said smacca, couldn't agree more mate. Topsy, I take nothing away from gary, of course well know what a great footballer he was, and of course Norwood club champion, but of a class act in that particular incident... I don't think so, a thuggish act on a young kid, I know so...

While Dewey's agae doesn't have anything specific to do with the incident, I mentioned the age of the current Hawks star to highlight the maliciousness of hitting a kid almost half his age. Do you know for a fact that Stuart belted him at the bottom of the pack because I highly doubt it mate. As a new kid on the block, why would a fresh faced 17 year old go and do a dirty on one of the most renowned tough men of the SANFL in Macca. And if my memory serves me correct (from the footage I have at home somewhere, Macca thumped (as you put it) Stewy on the grandstand wing, behind the play when the ball was 50 metres away, not in a pack situation.

And don't you think your club would be "bitter" as you put it, if a young player in your club was attacked thuggishly behind the play. Centrals were not bitter mate, they just pointed out an obvious indiscretion on Maccas part that was punished accordingly. Enough said about that now, I've already been told to keep this topic on track so let's do so by asking North fans whether they think Jars should stay on next year as coach or do they find a new head honcho ?

LOL Yeah, let's start the whole class wars discussion again, don't think it's been had before

Macca's hit on Dew was a cheap shot no doubt, but it served it's purpose, and I agree that Dew's age is irrelevant - Once you take the field all players are equal whether they be 17 or 37.
