As shown in the Sturt v Centrals thread, its the highest EF/QF crowd in the post-Port Power era.

Fantastic effort.

Considering we were anticipating 20 000, in a way it was slightly disappointing.

Having said that, with the shocking weather last night and a bit of rain this morning, some people would have settled for watching on the ABC. Also considering it is the biggest QF/EF crowd in the post-Port Power era (as mentioned on the Sturt v Centrals review thread), it's a crowd normally expected for the semi's, and only 4 000 less than what the AFL got for one final, in a way it was quite pleasing.

I guess it depends on how you look at it.

Next week we should break 20 000 I reckon.

I thought it was a good crowd, I was hoping for a few thousand more though.

The SACA really need to look at how they get people into the ground for the early game. Every year it is a problem and I can see why it would be as it is an early start and everyone gets there at the same time but they need to work something out. If you know it is going to be a problem you allow yourself more time but not everyone knows that.

I thought the crowd was actually bigger than the official attendance of 15,825.I was at Glenelg Oval in Round 13 and if there was almost 12,000 that day then there was definitely more than an extra 3,000 today

No doubt the overnight and early morning weather kept some away, but they were the softies anyway.

A great crowd, one of the better ones at Adelaide Oval in recent times. Not just numbers, but atmosphere. A great day.

CD, they could open an extra gate or 2, there were only 2 aisles open in the Vic Richardson gates when I got there, a very long queue to get in.

if the conditions were like yesterday anything below 20,000 would have been disappointing, obviously in the context of past years its quite good, but still a little bit of a let down probably.

When I drove past the Vic Richardson gates at 12 noon, the queue was back to King William Road! Considering it was Wereslow issuing the tickets I'm not surprised it took so long to get in (they were just as slow getting people into the Show this week too). I got to the Clarrie Grimmet gates at about 12:10 - if I hadn't been given a free ticket standing in the line I probably wouldn't have got in until the second quarter of the game.

Also, looks like Adelaide Oval have switched to Ticketek now - lets hope AAMI Stadium does the same soon I dread dealing with BASS.

I had a ticket from the club and didn't have to queue to purchase but STILL had to wait in a queue to get into the ground because Wereslow are so bad at letting people through the gate.

That was at 1/2 time of the first game, hardly a peak time for entry to the oval.

I think it was a good crowd.

certainly better than average but in no way was it great.

Having said that all is looking good for the SANFL if they can get a crowd like that to the first week of the finals.

By the way what is the maximum attendance allowed at Adelaide oval. It would be great if we could get 25,000 next week but 15,000 would still be a good figure.

Adelaide Oval has been Venue*tix for last few years.

The issue of getting into the ground must be fixed - given the crowd for the start of the first game would have been 8 or 9 thousand it is just not professional nor acceptable.

Surely an oval with capacity of 30,000 expecting say 20,000 can get 10,000 in before the start of the 12:10 game!

Crowd figure was close to what I expected pre-game, still approx 30-40% above the average for the same week in recent years.

Was surprised it was that low having seen it first hand on the day, never seen the scoreboard hill that packed at an SANFL game.

Expect that regardless of the weather the "Tiger Nation", so long out of contention, will come out in force, should replace the Magpies lost and add a few. Some extra Norwood fans may even get excited

I predict approx 18,000 pending weather

Agreed, especially for the early game I would have thought it was pushing 18-20K. The car park was full and I've never had to park so far away. Hopefully at least I worked off the pie...s

Because We-slow weren't scanning tickets and only the girls at the windows were recording numbers I saw heaps of people pass their ticket through the Vic Richardson gates for their mates to use, so I  believe the official figure could be out by a few!

Looks like Ticketek have taken over at Adelaide Oval now as they're selling the tickets for Adelaide Oval's cricket matches as well.

Anyway, getting back on track, there are issues that Adelaide Oval need to address to get people into the ground quickly and smoothly. For example, perhaps the SANFL/SACA could arrange for tickets to be sold from Ticketek outlets/online during the week (if this isn't already done so), and encourage people to utilise this option. Adelaide Oval also needs to rejig their turnstiles like other stadiums (AAMI, MCG, TD etc) where people scan the tickets themselves rather than handing to a Wereslow person to scan, making entry more smoother.
