Reserves 1st Semi Final: North vs Eagles

Postby spell_check » Sun Sep 14, 2008 12:04 am

This game is at Glenelg Oval; 11.15am start time.

Head to Head:
Played 49: Eagles 30 North 19
Finals 1: Eagles 1 North 0
1st Semi Finals 1: Eagles 1 North 0

The only Reserves final that Woodville/West Torrens have met North in was the 2004 1st Semi final. After the Qualifying Final loss in 2004, the Eagles recovered to win the flag - the 1st Semi was won 15.5 to 7.10.

This year, North leads the head to head 2 to 1:
Rd 1: North 14.8 Eagles 6.11
Rd 9: North 13.8 Eagles 7.13
Rd 16: Eagles 14.12 North 8.14

That Round 16 match ended a 9 match winning sequence for North - beginning in Round 7 2005 - the first meeting after the above final.

Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

It wouldn't surprise me to see an Eagles win in this one. Let's hope so anyway :D In good form as the weekend showed - a polish up on our goalkicking and the cocks might be in real trouble.

A premiership is still a premiership - whether that be A's, B's or Unders. It's good for the club moving forward so as an Eagle I would be quite happy to knock you off this weekend and move a step closer.

Lets not kid ourselves its the League, and possibly the u17s who hold any interest.

Good point G.

Then ask yourself this Question.

Who from either of the 2 successive B's Premiership sides has been given a real chance to progress into the A's .... remember the A's have been filled with recruits for the last 5 years so NO home developed talent has had a chance????

From the 1st Prem - Grooke went on to the Eagles and now has an A's, yep A's medal around his neck. :(

Peter's has developed good sides with talent and the club has preferred to try and buy an A's Premiership with inports and that is why those achievements have not done us any good. :)

Off the soapbox now.

Go the Reds on Saturday - They are carrying the North flag for us.

I certainly let the boys know they had my support, & attended the games.
I didn't exactly go & get a Premiership tattoo though.

Sorry G - there just isn't a "G" in realist as hard as I look and in any dictionary. A realist would not be blinkered! :(
