Eagle News #7 + Tribunal result

Postby cd » Sun Aug 03, 2008 11:12 pm

Amazingly, with 4 games to go we still sit only one game out of the five. With our improved form over the past couple of weeks and with most games now at home, we still have an opportunity to get to the finals.

No-one can be happy with our form this season as we have been extremely inconsistent – our best is terrific but sadly we haven’t been able to produce regularly.
With something like 45 players representing the club at league level so far this year we have had significant changes to cope with each week.

Adam Grocke should be OK for next week’s game against South as should Ben Schwarze (injured at training on Friday). Most of the boys got through OK today except for Trent Henschell who has a hamstring strain which will need to be checked during the week but is doubtful given it is a 6 day break.

Was terrific to have so much support from AFL listed and past players today at Unley – great to catch up with Tim Inkster (sadly injured for Henley at moment), Matty Cooper, Bernie Vince, Nathan Bock, Joe Pedler, plus Stephen hall sent an apology but was injured playing for Henley (broken Nose).

Congratulations to Paul and Lisa Lindsay with the safe arrival of their first child, Phoebe earlier this week – another junior member for the club

After 17 rounds we have produced 4 Rising Star Nominations – (Chris Hall, Chris Lane, Matthew Broadbent, Jared Petrenko) - again a great compliment to our clubs successful junior development programme – developing youngsters into league footballers.
Also congratulations to Jared Petrenko and Nick Salter being elevated from Rookie lists to full list of the Crows and Power respectively.

Sadly we wish to inform members of the passing of Past Player Brian Coleman. Brian played approximately 75 games for West Torrens in the 1950s as a ruckman, and represented an SANFL Second XVIII against Victoria around 1954/1955.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL EAGLE MEMBERS - Without me driving everyone nuts we have for the 4th consecutive year broken the 2000 mark for membership. Currently we have 2007 – about 150 down on last year’s record total – but there is still time - if you’re not a member then please get on board.
This is a great testament to Eagle fans as although we haven’t performed as we’d all wish the vast majority of members have stuck by the club. Thanks to all who have joined up – your support is very much appreciated.

TRIVIA NIGHT
Saturday 9th August at Champs Function Room, Woodville Oval. (Upstairs) Come along for a great night of fun and prizes! Tickets are $10 per person, basket super and drinks at members prices. Contact Nadia at the club on 8347 2444 for details

MEMBERS NIGHT – each Thursday at the Club
Every Thursday night at the Eagles Club financial members are in the draw to win CASH (must be present to claim). This week the jackpot amount is at $200. Make sure you come down to the Club on Thursday night for your chance to win.

Watch out for news re the Woodville Heritage Day at Woodville Oval - coming soon with the team wearing the WARRIOR Jumper to honour the Woodville Football Club.

One aspect of our poor form has been the passion of our supporters which has been fantastic and while I might not agree with all that has been said or suggested it does show we as club members, supporters, barrackers will not accept losing nor poor performances - I believe a strength of our club culture is this passion.

With the 6 day break Micky may be a bit soon for Schwarze - I believed was to be one to two - club website says 2 so probably will be the game after the bye.

Given the current injury list very pleasing that Mark not guilty and is available this week.

Also was the first time ever reported so keeps his slate clean.

Yeah you're spot on...a return of 44.11 thus far is terrible isn't it.

Next you'll be suggesting the Eagles bulldoze Thebby and Woodville Oval...sheesh...most negative poster EVER.

Granted some of the selections this year have been quite strange...a bit like North keeping O'Brien in the two's for so long...some people would argue that Jimmy Sellar should be in the Bays league side too...
